Wilson College is looking for exceptional candidates with strong leadership skills and the ability to make broad policy recommendations. The Compliance Specialist is responsible for coordinating and assisting with college-wide compliance efforts required under all federal, state, and local laws. The Compliance Specialist will work closely with the Director of Human Resources/Title IX Coordinator to develop, establish, and maintain an effective compliance program designed to prevent, monitor, detect, and respond to non-compliance, and recommend corrective action. This position will conduct campus training and outreach for all community members, with a focus on employee training and ongoing education.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Develops and implements institutional compliance programs, collaborates with other departments to develop innovative and effective ways to mitigate compliance risk, and provides resources, support, advice, and training for compliance partners across campus.
  • Identifies and communicates potential risks and vulnerabilities to senior leadership; develops and implements processes to coordinate and communicate regarding compliance with federal, state, and local laws, rules, and regulations, as well as institutional policies, monitors legal trends.
  • Acts as a subject matter expert regarding college policies, and state and federal laws and guidelines, including facilitating updates, improvements, and development of compliance policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Coordinates educational and training programs to ensure that members of the Wilson College community understand the compliance responsibilities relevant to their work.
  • Manage the College's confidential reporting system.
  • Assist the Title IX Coordinator with the investigation and coordination of cases involving sexual harassment, sexual assault, intimate partner violence, stalking, and protected class harassment and discrimination and related retaliation for employees.
  • Effectively and efficiently manage an assigned caseload of investigations and ensures a well-documented investigative process.
  • Monitor and roll out employee online training programs and track compliance.
  • Conduct campus-wide outreach on compliance related issues.
  • Serve on College committees as needed.
  • Consult with external counsel as needed.
  • Perform other job-related duties as deemed necessary.
COMPETENCY:
  • A demonstrated ability to collaborate, build relationships, and work diplomatically with professionals from a variety of fields.
  • A demonstrated track record of self-motivation, initiative, and strong time management skills for managing multiple projects and priorities within specified deadlines.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of emerging trends and regulatory requirements that impact institutions of higher education or similarly complex organizations, including environmental health and safety, FERPA, Title IX, Clery Act, ADA, employment and hiring compliance, and federal and state privacy issues.
  • A proven ability to develop effective and comprehensive policies and to assist managers and leaders in writing and amending policies and guidance documentation.Exceptional writing, presentation, organizational, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Aptitude for exercising judgment and maintaining confidentiality.
  • Detail-oriented, flexible, and experience overseeing multiple priorities.
  • Detailed knowledge of Microsoft Office software programs (Microsoft Office Suite and SharePoint)
POSITION TYPE AND EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK:
  • Full-time, hybrid work schedule eligible in accordance with College guidelines.
  • Regular office hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30am to 5:00pm
  • Some work during evenings and weekends may be required.
TRAVEL:

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor's degree in a field related to assigned responsibilities required, Master's degree in pertinent area preferred.
  • 5 years of progressive experience in a compliance-related field, or as a professional compliance officer within a complex institutional environment.
  • May require certification or licensure.
