Wilson College is seeking a qualified candidate for the role of Educational Technology Specialist. This position is designed for individuals who possess a deep understanding of pedagogical principles and current technological advancements. The Educational Technology Specialist will work collaboratively with faculty and staff to create exceptional instructional resources and learning experiences that enhance both online and in-person educational environments. This role involves both individual consultations and broader programmatic initiatives aimed at faculty engagement. Furthermore, the specialist will provide support for educational technology tools and direct audio-visual (AV) assistance for various campus activities.

Key Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with the Director of Academic Technology to fulfill departmental goals, including:
  • Creating and implementing engaging learning experiences across various formats, including face-to-face, hybrid, and online.
  • Developing, organizing, and maintaining instructional materials and assessment resources aligned with contemporary pedagogical standards.
  • Researching and procuring educational resources and technologies to support learning initiatives.
  • Delivering training and technical assistance to learners in diverse settings such as classrooms and online platforms.
  • Providing direct support for educational events that require A/V and web conferencing technologies.
  • Managing educational software platforms, including learning management systems and accessibility tools.
  • Offering consultation and training on learning technology tools.
  • Analyzing and troubleshooting learning technologies to enhance user experience.
  • Collecting and interpreting data to identify instructional needs and improve program effectiveness.
  • Designing and facilitating faculty development programs.
  • Representing the College at professional development events and conferences.
• Independently engage with faculty to support course design and ensure compliance with accessibility standards.

Qualifications:
  • Extensive proficiency in computer applications (e.g., Word, Excel, Office Suite).
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Self-directed and motivated.
  • In-depth knowledge of adult learning theories and instructional design methodologies.
  • Experience with Learning Management Systems and educational technologies, particularly Canvas, Yuja, Zoom, and Office 365.
Work Schedule:
  • This is a full-time position with a typical schedule of Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Flexibility for evening and weekend support may be required.
  • Onsite presence is expected, with potential for a hybrid work arrangement.
Travel Requirements:
  • Occasional travel for professional development and training may be necessary.
Education & Experience:
  • A minimum of a bachelor's degree in education, instructional design, or a related field is required; a master's degree is preferred.
  • Two to three years of experience in instructional design or online education is preferred.
