Accounting Department The Accounting Department is integral to maintaining the financial health and integrity of our organization. Position Overview This role can be based in any of our US locations: Denver, CO; Phoenix, AZ; Santa Clara, CA; or Ashburn, VA. In alignment with our flexible work policy. (3 days on site required, 2 days flexible). Vantage is seeking a detail-oriented and high-performing Technical Accountant to support the evaluation of accounting standards, preparation of financial statements, and technical accounting analysis. The Technical Accountant will assist in the preparation of US GAAP financial statements, analysis of financial transactions, and assessment of new accounting standards. This role involves working both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, contributing to the day-to-day accounting activities and month-end close process as needed. Essential Job Functions Technical Accounting and Analysis: Assess technical accounting implications for complex business transactions, preparing written accounting and financial reporting position memos for management and external auditor review. Evaluate the applicability of new accounting literature and prepare technical accounting memos for complex transactions, including debt and M&A transactions. Financial Statement Preparation: Prepare quarterly and annual US GAAP financial statements, including footnote disclosures, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards. Perform analysis on financial statements to evaluate the appropriateness of reported balances and activity. Accounting Standards and Compliance: Monitor and evaluate new accounting guidance for applicability to the company's financial statements, providing insights and recommendations for implementation. Contribute to the development of process and accounting policy documentation as needed. Audit Support: Assist in the annual audit process, ensuring that all necessary documentation and analysis are prepared and available for auditors. Support audit inquiries related to technical accounting issues and financial reporting. Day-to-Day Accounting Activities: Contribute to daily and monthly accounting activities, including the month-end close process, on an as-needed basis. Assist in determining the proper accounting treatment between capital expenditure and expense classification for contracts, projects, purchase orders, and invoices. Project and Transaction Support: Contribute to non-routine projects such as real estate and business acquisitions, debt financing transactions, and other special projects as needed. Provide technical accounting expertise and support for various financial transactions. Additional Duties: Handle additional duties as assigned by Management. Job Requirements Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting with relevant experience required. CPA license preferred but not required. Experience: 2 or more years at a major public accounting firm or 4 or more years of experience in an accounting role required. Data Center, Real Estate, or Construction experience is preferred, but not required. Skills: Good understanding of GAAP required. Skilled at identifying and applying technical accounting guidance and building processes for implementation. Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint Ability to collaborate with individuals across the organization and "roll-up one's sleeves" to accomplish all necessary tasks. Experience with SOX preferred but not required. Knowledge of Yardi preferred but not required. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Strong organizational skills with attention to detail. Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments. Commitment to continuous improvement and process optimization. Travel required is expected to be up to 5% but may increase over time as the business evolves.
