POSITION PURPOSE:

The Desktop Support Associate will be responsible for assisting with the maintenance, troubleshooting, and support of desktop computing systems within American Youthworks. The Desktop Support position involves providing technical assistance to employees, resolving hardware and software issues, and contributing to the overall efficiency and productivity of the IT department.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES:

Under guided supervision from the Technology Director, the Desktop Support Associate will perform the following functions:

Provide technical assistance and support for desktop computers, laptops, printers, and other peripherals.Install, configure, and troubleshoot hardware and software components.Diagnose and resolve technical hardware and software issues promptly.Collaborate with IT team members to ensure efficient operation of desktop computing systems.Assist in the setup and deployment of new desktop hardware and software.Perform routine maintenance tasks such as system updates, patches, and antivirus scans.Respond to user inquiries and help desk requests in a timely manner.Document technical procedures, troubleshooting steps, and support activities.Follow established procedures and protocols for IT service delivery.Contribute to IT projects and initiatives as assigned.Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Required

EDUCATION / CERTIFICATION: Pursuing or recently completed a degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.

EXPERIENCE: 1 to 3 years Previous experience in customer service or technical support. Basic understanding of desktop computing concepts and technologies.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES

KNOWLEDGE: Fundamental knowledge of desktop operating systems and software. Basic understanding of networking concepts. Knowledge of common desktop hardware components and peripherals. Familiarity with IT service management principles. Understanding of security best practices in desktop computing

SKILLS: Strong problem-solving skills and proficiency in Microsoft Windows and/or macOS operating systems. Basic understanding of computer hardware components. Familiarity with desktop software applications (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite). Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Attention to detail and accuracy in troubleshooting and documentation. Customer service-oriented attitude. Time management and prioritization skills. Adaptability and willingness to learn new technologies.

ABILITIES: Ability to effectively communicate technical information to non-technical users. Capacity to learn and apply new technical skills quickly. Capability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment. Aptitude for working under pressure and meeting deadlines. Ability to adapt to changing technology and business requirements.

WORKING MODEL AND CONDITIONS:

ENVIRONMENT: Onsite

INDOORS: Environmentally controlled conditions, working in an office or shared office setting, working with others in a group or team; contact with others (face-to-face, by telephone, or otherwise), No hazardous conditions. May be required to work in hot, wet, cold, or other significantly unpleasant conditions;

ATTENDANCE: Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with one-hour unpaid lunch break. Occasional weekends to meet deadlines/special projects;
