Purpose

The Purchasing Agent is responsible for all aspects of purchasing and inventory levels.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prepares purchase orders by verifying specifications and price obtaining approval from requisitioning department.
  • Monitors inventory levels and tracks stock to ensure service levels. Forwards available inventory items by verifying stock; scheduling delivery.
  • Prepared and communicates purchasing planning and control information but collecting, analyzing and summarizing data.
  • Obtains purchased items by forwarding orders to suppliers; monitoring and expediting orders.
  • Verifies receipt of items by comparing items received to items ordered; resolves shipments in error with suppliers.
  • Authorizes payment for purchases by forwarding receiving documentation.
  • Provides purchasing planning and control information by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data and trends.
  • Traffic arranging and coordinating the containers, pick up numbers, freight availability and distribution of notifications for final delivery.
  • Maintain and expand effective relationship with suppliers, forwarders, Customs brokers, and warehouses.
  • Participate and support other team members with accounts and workload on day to day operations including setting priorities, organizing, scheduling work and problem solving
  • Processes receiving transactions and invoices.
  • Other duties as maybe assigned by management from time to time.
General Requirements:
  • Previous experience in Purchasing in wholesale or manufacturing environment
  • College degree preferred
  • Computer skills including MS Office suite
  • Analytical, mathematical, and negotiating skills with understanding of the purchasing process.
  • Strong problem recognition and solving ability.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent data entry skills
  • Knowledge of general clerical and administrative procedures
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Strong ability to multi-task
  • Organizing, planning, and customer service oriented
  • Ability to plan, organize, prioritize, and use time productively and efficiently
