The Purchasing Agent will collaborate closely with suppliers, the General Manager and production teams to maintain optimal inventory levels while meeting the quality and cost objectives. Key Responsibilities Supplier Relationship Management: Identify, evaluate, and develop relationships with parts & equipment suppliers. Negotiate contracts, terms, and pricing to secure favorable agreements. Monitor supplier performance and address any issues or concerns. Maintain strong vendor relationships and ensure the timely delivery of materials. Market Analysis and Research: Stay updated on industry trends, market conditions, and pricing fluctuations. Analyze market data to make informed purchasing decisions. Identify potential new suppliers and evaluate their capabilities. Inventory Management: Monitor and maintain optimal inventory levels to meet production demands. Implement inventory control strategies to minimize waste, excess stock, and shortages. Conduct regular inventory audits and adjustments as needed. Cost Optimization: Continuously seek cost-saving opportunities while maintaining product quality. Work with suppliers to negotiate pricing, discounts, and terms. Track and report on cost trends and variances. Quality Assurance: Collaborate with quality control teams to ensure materials meet specified standards. Address any quality issues promptly and work with suppliers for resolution. Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of purchases, contracts, and supplier communications. Prepare regular reports on procurement activities and cost analysis. Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and industry standards. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, or a related field preferred. Proven experience as a Purchasing Agent, preferably in the sand and gravel industry. Strong negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills. Proficiency in procurement software and Microsoft Office applications. Knowledge of supply chain management principles and best practices. Attention to detail and strong analytical skills. Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams. Familiarity with safety and environmental regulations in the Sand & Gravel industry is a plus.
