Function: Finance & Accounting Job Summary: The Senior Accountant prepares and focuses on account reconciliations and performs financial analyses while ensuring internal controls are adhered to. The incumbent will primarily focus on coordination of fixed asset transactions and management reports; assist in preparation of external reports; and reviews and verifies the accuracy of journal entries and accounting classifications. Job Responsibilities: Prepares monthly journal entries and month-end analyses as well as various exhibits and commentary required for reports issued to management, outside Directors and government agencies. Coordinates & reviews fixed asset capitalizations, retirements and transfers for all locations. Prepares consolidated analyses of various account balances and maintain files of supporting workpapers. Assists with special projects, year-end activities and related duties. Prepares written procedures on job responsibilities. Participate in audits as required. Maintains and updates Policies and Procedures. Provides guidance to junior accounting staff. Evaluates and recommends improvements to accounting procedures and systems. Successful Incumbents will have: Bachelor's Degree in accounting CPA, CPA candidate preferred 3-6 years' accounting experience Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks; Ability to function effectively while meeting deadlines Strong interpersonal, communication and administrative skills Proficient with Microsoft Windows environment and have an excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Applications Familiarity with SAP systems preferred Position Scope/Contribution: This position requires daily contact with other departments such as Plant Accounting, IT, Distribution Facilities and Financial Planning & Analysis. The Senior Accountant must possess and apply a strong knowledge of fundamental accounting concepts and practices and help evaluate and improve accounting methods and procedures. Under limited supervision and instruction, the incumbent completes assignments that are varied and require ingenuity and originality. This individual must also have the ability to assume supervisory responsibilities and provide guidance as a resource for lower-level personnel. Must understand and comply with established departmental processes and procedures designed to support internal controls efforts. Needs to identify and bring to the attention of department management internal controls deficiencies.
