Job Description

The Accounting Specialist I is responsible for validation, processing and filing of invoices.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: This list is not intended to be all-inclusive and other duties may be assigned:

  • Collect, organize and record information received from vendors.
  • Match invoices to purchase orders and packing slips.
  • Reconcile vendor invoices and statements.
  • Reviews all invoices for appropriate documentation and approval prior to payment
  • Answers all vendor inquiries.
  • Maintains all accounts payable reports, spreadsheets and accounts payable files.
  • Collects and maintains files for all invoices, payments and tax information for vendors.
  • Multi-task between two accounting software.
  • Cross train to prepare and process Hog Batch Payments when needed.
  • Perform annual audits on vendor documentation.


QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: An Associates degree in a related field (business administration, accounting or finance) or the combination of education and experience that enables performance in all aspects of the position.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS: Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and/or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports and business correspondence. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from management and employees.

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret documents in the English language such as safety files and procedure manuals. Must be able to effectively communicate with hiring managers and others within and outside of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to apply mathematical applications to practical situations. Must possess strong analytical and metric-based skills.

REASONING ABILITY: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical, diagram, written and/or verbal form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Must be computer literate in Excel, Word, and Outlook and capable of creating and manipulating spreadsheets. The ability to learn and effectively use any and all other computer programs that are or will be made available.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to talk or hear. Generally the incumbent must be able to sit and use a computer for extended periods of time. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; move about the facility; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. This position requires the ability to occasionally lift office products and supplies, up to 20 pounds.
