Overview: Gallagher Bassett Technical Services (GBTS) division is seeking a "Construction Safety Loss Control Consultant" needed on a per assignment/quarterly basis in the Portland, OR region to perform safety/loss control risk inspection on multi-year construction project located in the educational/university business sector. It will be a W-2 position. We are not able to do 1099 or C2C. You must meet our U.S. Eligibility requirements for work authorization as noted under "Additional Information" at the bottom of the job description. This position pays $50/hr. Responsibilities: Conducts multi-line and / or specialty loss and operational analysis to achieve successful implementation of complex risk improvement programs. Contributes to business growth and retention goals by ensuring client risk improvement needs are addressed, demonstrating high understanding of client business, risk and risk profile. On call technical support via phone, email or teleconference to Client, or Customers Operations, Risk Management or Claims Administration personnel. Perform periodic onsite inspections and audits of customer sites to evaluate the level of compliance with Safety Management, Environmental Health and Safety and Risk Management plans, programs policies and procedures. Periodically review metrics related to safety and health. Conduct periodic Safety meetings with Operations with various active construction site project locations. At a minimum, once per quarter site visits (full day) and when requested by the Client to perform Safety and Loss Prevention Field Audits and prepare an evaluation report to gain an understanding of current operations of the facility location and to prepare a report that examines potential health and safety compliance risks and liabilities. The creation of an evaluation report (provided by Client) that shall consist of a complete review of on-site conditions, including maintenance of required records and workplace policies. Recommendations for improvement, if applicable, will be noted in the written report. Provide client/appropriate Client team members with quarterly status report. Attendance on teleconference client meetings as requested and as appropriate, on safety meetings teleconference with the Client project team. Qualifications: Required: Bachelor's degree or commensurate experience; 5 years’ related experience in Safety, Risk, or Insurance. Minimum 10 -years’ experience in construction and safety management. Minimum 5-years’ experience specifically in safety on institutional and/or university building construction projects. Ability to obtain appropriate licenses and/or certifications in all states where business is conducted. Safety training experience. Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills. Excellent computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office. Moderate travel required, including possible some overnight travel. Ability to travel by automobile and aircraft and work outside or normal business hours as required. Ability to perform work on varied customer properties; entails negotiating non-public access areas, climbing, lifting, sitting, standing and walking for extended periods of time. Desired: Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational or Industrial Safety, Fire Protection, Risk Management preferred; and certifications in the following are preferred: Associate in Risk Management (ARM), Associate in Safety Professional (ASP), Certified Safety Professional (CSP). Background and/or experience in educational/institutional building construction sector. Work Traits: Interfaces effectively with management, clients, account teams and partners. Complies with all company policies and procedures, proactively protecting confidentiality of client and company information. Understands industry trends and governmental regulations. Efficiently organizes work and manages time in order to meet deadlines.
