FLSA Grade: Non-Exempt, Full-Time

Salary Range: $28-$34 hourly

Position Summary:

The Donor Relations Associate reporting to the Director, Stewardship and Principal Gift Strategy, is responsible for supporting the Los Angeles Philharmonic Association in achieving its short- and long-term development goals with a primary focus on stewardship and donor relations. Donor relations nurtures and builds lasting relationships between LA Phil and those who support the organization with private gifts. Donor relations fosters and encourages private support by acknowledging contributions in a timely, accurate and appropriate manner; recognizing donors in meaningful ways; and reporting to donors in a timely, consistent and accurate manner on the use, impact and financial management of their gifts. Under the direction of the Director, Stewardship and Principal Gift Strategy, the Donor Relations Associate supports the LA Phil's donor relations program and assists with the implementation of all related activities including planning small events, coordinating donor signage, meeting preparation, drafting communications and other duties as assigned.

Position Elements:

  • Coordinate recognition events such as donor signage unveilings and other customized small events. Work in conjunction with Special Events, the Chief Philanthropy Officer's office, Creative Services, and other internal partners to execute these events.
  • Coordinate all new donor signage and recognition needs, working with Hollywood Bowl Operations and the Music Center. Determine when existing donor signage needs to be updated and manage the process of updating.
  • Interface with the donor database, Tessitura, to input contact reports, attendance information, and other key pieces of information. Use donor database to track stewardship activities and report annually on department-wide stewardship and engagement output. Evaluate methods of donor engagement across the department and propose efficiencies.
  • Interface with Philanthropy Operations to track and execute gift agreement deliverables, including reports and pledge payment reminders, and to produce and review donor rolls. Scan and organize gift agreements into the shared drive, Tessitura and the hard files.'
  • Support the acknowledgement letter process: writing and customizing high-level acknowledgement letters and guiding them through to completion.
  • Pull ticketing lists for Board and major donors and distribute to Executive Team and cross-departmentally to facilitate impromptu stewardship visits with key donors.
  • Assist the Director, Stewardship and Principal Gift Strategy with long-term, cross-departmental projects that advance key stewardship objectives.

Minimum Requirements

Requirements:
  • 3-4 years' experience in working for a mid- to large-size non-profit organization, preferably in Development
  • Bachelor's degree (English, Social Science, or Arts preferred)
  • Outstanding business professional level communications skills (verbal and written)
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management skills and demonstrated ability to multitask effectively in fast paced environment within resource constraints and deadlines
  • Intellectual curiosity and willingness to learn on the job.
  • Intermediate business professional proficiency with desktop computing applications, internet research capabilities, and fundraising software tools (e.g. Microsoft Calendar, Word, Excel, and Tessitura)
  • Excellent interpersonal and collaboration skills with an ability to work effectively both independently and as a part of a team
  • Maintains a positive attitude with donors and staff
  • Background in-or knowledge of-musical arts is desirable but not required
