Agency Accountant/Bookkeeper Position Overview:

As the Accountant/Bookkeeper for GO DESIGN+, you will serve as our team accountant for our advertising agency. Youll be working with unique software under accrual accounting methods. Your love for detail and openness to work within and master the Workamajig workflow will shine as this role is essential to the function of our agency. This position is headquartered in the corporate office of which core business hours are Monday Friday, 8:30am 5:00pm.

As an out-of-the-box thinker and motivated person, you will join our high-performing agency and directly support our team and clients. This position is based in our Southfield, MI, headquarters and reports to the Creative Director.

This position is responsible for AR/AP, planning, reviewing accounts, tracking Key Performance Indicators, and reporting for our 14-person team and our client base. While we are currently working with our external accounting function, one of your first goals will be to build and transfer all accounting to Workamajig, and ultimately run the accounting function solely through this project management software.

Roles and Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following (other duties may be assigned as needed):
  • Budget administration, manage and review actual spend to budget and reforcast as necessary and spend-down reports
  • Generate and review month-end, quarter-end and year-end financial reports including

KPIs to provide insights for strategic decision-making

  • Oversight and control of day-to-day accounting operations
  • Manage all accounts payable (AP) and receivable (AR) functions including invoicing clients,

depositing checks, paying vendors, and properly categorizing expenses for both services

and advertising

  • Prepare vendor 1099s
  • Work with outside support accountant on taxes and closing of the books
  • Prepare bank and credit card reconciliations
  • Treasury management and preparation of cash flow projections
  • Act as a liaison for bank, payroll, and CPA relationships
  • Manage records, post transactions, and ensure compliance with legal requirements
  • Work on special projects and produce ad hoc reporting as requested
  • Transfer of previous years files, set up, and management of new accounting system,

Workamajig.

  • Oversee the accounting side of Workamajig, collaboratively with the Senior Project Manager, including setting up new vendors, customers and accounts.
  • Oversee and manage audits that may occur from time to time.
  • Other duties that are customary for the position including opening and closing projects

Preferred Experience

  • Experience working in a marketing, communications or advertising agency
  • Minimum 2-years experience with Workamajig
  • Proficient in Excel
  • Experience with tracking monthly liabilities
  • Experience with commission-based and hourly billing structures

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in bookkeeping on an accrual system
  • Demonstrable achievements in fostering the RITE On culture, reputation, and engagement resulting in profitable growth
  • Knowledge of job cost accounting
  • Ability to make independent judgement related to general ledger coding
  • Ability to self-start and problem-solve independently
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Discretion with confidential information
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment

  • Able to communicate comfortably in a professional manner and collaborate with clients, leadership and team members to ensure accurate information transfer and desired outcomes
  • Detail-oriented, with marked ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced environment, on multiple projects simultaneously with varying deadlines
  • Coordinates all aspects of assigned projects and workload
  • Clear understanding of agency protocols including naming conventions, file management and storage
  • Experience working within digital project management systems and digital workflows
  • Resourceful, self-directed and willing to learn and adapt quickly
