He/She will think strategically, execute thoughtfully, and collaborate across many teams, levels, and situations. In this role, he/she will serve as a senior process technical resource, providing technical and operational expertise to address complex processes across business teams. Mentoring less experienced engineers on design practices, unit health monitoring, and troubleshooting Provide off-hours support of abnormal and non-routine operations, including unit Turnarounds Aiding in the development of long term vision and strategy for product line improvements Organizing and designing plant testing and product trials Serve as a senior resource either serving as or working with supervisors on the team to set clear objectives, and ensure priorities are aligned for the technical team Influence others and drive toward solutions without direct authority Work in a team environment with other engineering disciplines, operations, and mechanical personnel and interface with corporate technology support Ability to interface with 3rd party vendors (cost optimizations as well as developing/driving solutions) Serve as process safety resource on business team leading Hazard and Operability Reviews (HAZOPs) and Risk Assessments by developing closure plans and strategies for identified risks Lead/support incident investigations as technical lead Provide support for developing and implementing various capital projects to drive margin or mitigate SHE risk Provide assistance in the field during plant startups, shutdowns or upsets Demonstrating courage of conviction to drive healthy tension for both business team and corporate technology support to promote fit for purpose outcome Required Skills (Technical Competency): B.S. Chemical Engineering 10+ years of experience in Chemical Engineering plant with technical fuels/ chemicals manufacturing roles. Working knowledge of RBI practices (corrosion damage mechanisms/mitigations, saltation, etc) Risk assessment and HAZOP experience Understanding of safety relief limits (modelling and evaluations) Desired Skills: Familiarity with advanced control strategies/optimization software Demonstrated understanding of modelling software (PROII, ASPEN, etc) Physical Requirements & Work Environment: Mostly Office Environments, Occasional Shop Floor involvement. Substantial amounts of telephone and computer work. Heavily Regulated Industries with strict adherence to procedures. Flexibility to meet business deadlines by staying late or arriving early. Typical 8 hour days plus lunch / 40 hour weeks / core (required) hours are 9AM to 4PM Ability to use personal transportation to visit customer locations.
