Position Summary
A Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering is essential for this role.
As a Project Engineer, your primary responsibility will be to oversee the planning and design of moderately complex engineering projects. You will collaborate closely with Project Management to ensure the successful achievement of project objectives. Additionally, you will play a key role in fostering relationships and developing new business opportunities.
Employment Type: Full-Time
Key Responsibilities:
- Receive daily guidance from Project Management.
- Communicate effectively with Office Managers, Project Managers, and all engineering team members.
- Provide mentorship and direction to Graduate Engineers.
Engineering Duties:
- Ensure systematic and consistent design for multiple engineering projects, contributing to the overall success of the organization.
- Develop design drawings and specifications while coordinating with other disciplines, exercising sound judgment on project details.
- Prepare planning and design documents, including cost estimates, based on engineering knowledge and compliance with relevant codes and regulations.
- Assist Project Managers with various management tasks.
- Oversee graduate engineers assigned to projects.
- Support the preparation of funding applications and preliminary engineering reports.
- Stamp or seal work performed and that of those under your supervision.
- Assist in developing project scope, schedules, and budget reviews as directed.
- Participate in team and project coordination meetings.
- Engage in the Post Project Review Process with clients and internal teams.
- Conduct 3D CAD design and facilitate communication with the CAD Department for drawing production.
- Initiate quality control processes for engineering documents.
- Update the Project Management Plan as directed.
- Establish professional relationships with clients and contractors, attending meetings as necessary.
- Promote communication, collaboration, and team building across all technical departments.
- Ensure adherence to standards for client management and technical excellence.
- Regularly communicate with Project Management regarding any significant project challenges.
Marketing & Business Development:
- Engage in marketing and business development activities, including proposal preparation and client presentations.
- Identify opportunities for cross-selling to enhance existing client relationships.
- Foster new and existing relationships through initial marketing meetings, proposal development, and negotiations.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Participate in recruitment efforts for the office and department.
- Enhance professional capabilities through industry association involvement and continuing education.
- Adhere to all company, OSHA, and local health and safety guidelines.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering.
- 4+ years of relevant professional experience.
- Professional Engineer status with the ability to obtain registration within one year.
- Proven experience working collaboratively with technical teams.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- In-depth knowledge of engineering principles and practices.
- Ability to prepare engineering documentation and concise technical reports.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Self-motivated and team-oriented with the ability to work independently.
- Capable of managing multiple tasks under pressure.
- Proficient in MS Office Suite and civil design software.
Other Requirements:
- Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
- Occasional travel may be required.
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds frequently and occasionally up to 50 pounds.
Working Conditions:
Primarily in an office environment with frequent visits to project sites, requiring adherence to safety protocols.
