Responsibilities:

What you'll be challenged to do:

The Midwest Area serves numerous Government Sector clients including DOTs, Turnpikes, and municipalities throughout Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, and Iowa. The Government Sector Senior Consultant will help maintain and grow our client base by leveraging relationships to position TranSystems for successful project pursuits and serve as a mentor for employee development to ensure successful project delivery and employee growth.

Primary Responsibilities (others may be included):

  • Develops and maintains strategic short term and long-term growth goals to help leverage client relationships in the Midwest Area.
  • Responsible for assisting with annual and medium-term process to drive sales at the area level.
  • Prioritizes clients and provides subject matter expertise to service lines to help with geographic expansion and serving marketplace.
  • Responsible for participating and advising on major pursuits and leading key proposal developments.
  • Assists Division Leaders with ensuring we are delivering projects while prioritizing quality, budgets, and schedules including but not limited to appropriate scopes and fees, scheduling and resource planning, oversight n QA/QC efforts, and guidance of technical aspects of project delivery.
  • Serves as a Project Manager for projects if scope/contract value/client needs deem appropriate.
  • Actively participate in TranSystems practice communities
  • Ensures focus on creating a work environment that retains top talent, creates development opportunities for employees, communicates performance concerns, mentors, supports positive morale, and strategically acquires new talent.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or related field and 15 years of experience in business development, management, and implementation of highway/roadway/bridge/civil construction transportation projects.
  • Professional registration in Kansas or Missouri is required.
  • Extensive business development, project management, and client engagement experience with key clients and various other local public agencies preferred.
  • Strong relationships with KDOT and/or MoDOT. Capable of leveraging project experience to win work.
  • Strong technical and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven ability to manage individuals and teams.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or Boards of Directors.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Demonstrates creativity, foresight and mature engineering judgment in anticipating and solving unprecedented engineering problems.
  • Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Office, and various engineering software systems depending on engineering discipline: AutoCAD; MicroStation/GeoPak; In Roads, Land Desktop, and Civil 3D.
  • Actively engages multiple perspectives when solving problems, seeks to learn from peers, and encourages reciprocal learning among team members.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions.
