General Summary
The General Manager's primary objectives are to serve both the needs of employees and clients. The position requires a strong understanding of all aspects of event management to include pre-event planning, staffing, event execution and effective team building.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
- Lives the company Mission by championing it in all interactions with staff, clients and patrons.
- Leads with a sense of service to supervisors, front line team members and coworkers.
- Dedicated toward revenue maximization by ensuring events are fully staffed with Argus employees. Must be eager to aid in both staffing and recruitment to ensure events are fully staffed.
- Develops strong management and supervisory teams.
- Understands the specifics of Client contract(s) and manages such that we remain compliant with each contract.
- Identifies and executes on opportunities for process improvements at venues under purview.
- Works in conjunction with the scheduling/admin team to produce effective staffing.
- Establishes and maintains NPO and MWBE relationships.
- Resolves guest related issues addressing needs or concerns as they arise.
- Continues to work billable hours to stay relevant with management, supervisory and frontline staff.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required
- Demonstrates positive leadership qualities and strong interpersonal skills to aid in developing employees.
- Understands and models leadership and professionalism in actions.
- Possesses excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Must be computer literate and have strong understanding in ABI, Excel, Google Docs and email.
- Must be able to respond to change in a positive and productive way.
- Demonstrates organization and attention to small yet critical details.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks.
- Excellent problem solving and negotiation skills.
- Must maintain an active Denver Security Guard License, TEAM and CPR and other mandatory training.
Physical Demands of the Job
While performing the essential functions of the job, the employee constantly operates a computer and other office devices such telephone and copy/scanning devices. Constantly moves about the arena and event sites before, during and after events to service clients and supervise staff; constantly communicates with a sense of urgency via telephone, email and in-person with others to exchange accurate information.
Psychological Demands
While performing the essential functions of this job, the employee is continuously asked to multi-task under time limits. Position requires constant attention to precise details and accuracy of specified standards including: following simple to complex (more than 3 steps) instructions, and concentration which frequently extends beyond 30 minutes at a time. Employees in this role will constantly be in leadership roles; this requires directing others either verbally or in writing to complete tasks in prescribed time frames. This position also requires constant use of interpersonal skills including: ability to direct/motivate/inform staff and foster collaboration, being able to recognize and resolve conflicts, being able to openly communicate in writing and verbally with clients.
Working Conditions
The essential functions of this position are performed both indoors and outdoors. The noise level in the work environment can range from minimal to loud during events, depending on the manager's location, and minimal during non-event times. Fast paced environment at venue during event days. Longer hours/days are necessary. Frequently required to work, evenings, weekends and holidays as scheduled.
