Helps develop the strategy in meeting the mandated nutritional needs of the school community, performing skilled cooking duties, directing, and supervising personnel assigned to the facility in a pleasant and helpful manner, ensuring suitable inventory, production, quality, and adhering to all organizational ethos. Providing support to convey information to stakeholders, business partners, and the school community.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
•In collaboration with Food Service Director, Responsible for successfully carrying out, but not limited to the compliant standards of the Federal and State Food Service Program relating to recipe standardization, food procurement, storage, preparation, transportation, serving practices, meal patterns (NSLP, SSO, CACFP, etc.), safety and sanitation, meal participation, waste management.
•Manages Food Service Workers.
•Ability to maintain a good working relationship with co-workers, campus community, business partners and stakeholders, for the efficient operation of the Child Nutrition program and Non- Child Nutrition-related food and beverage needs.
•Maintaining communication with the Director of Food Services of daily activities: operational needs, personnel issues, equipment needs, day-to-day operations and offsite/onsite catering special events, etc.
•Collaborates with the Food Service Supervisor and Food Service Worker Lead in creating standard operating procedures for ordering, receiving, USDA Entitlement, stockroom control, and inventory management, menu planning; suggests improvements in food preparation methods, personnel assignments, practices, procedures, and planning as appropriate.
•Responsible for all food service personnel have proper orientation, Academy, USDA and CDE mandated training, training records, evaluations (assisting), RFP, student/civil complaints, etc., for the purpose of creating efficiencies and maximizing the productivity of the workforce, providing adequate coverage, and ensuring adherence to health, wellness, safety, nutrition standards and all organizational ethos related to foodservice operations. Participates in the implementation of new and revised government standards and regulations, district policies, and guidelines for special nutritional programs, including developing and updating related spreadsheets.
•Responsible for mandated recordkeeping of a safe work environment, health, and safety (HACCP policies), temperature and daily logs, internal audits, production records, PAR reports, sanitation logs, monitoring requirements, paid lunch equity, and Justice for All, also ensuring that food items are properly cooked, shipped, and served in a safe, sanitary, and timely manner.
•Prepares and delivers effective and ongoing sanitation training and ensures staff compliance with sanitation standards through the City of Houston Health Department.
•Conducts daily inspections of all areas of the facility to ensure compliance with established standards. Assisting in production schedule and safety meetings, in-services, and workshops for the purpose of disseminating information related to the food services operations.
•Assists in preparing a wide variety of documentation (e.g., cumulative meal counts, budget reports, reconciliation reports, invoices, timesheets, etc.).
•In collaboration with Food Service Director, assists in preparing for Administrative Reviews (audits) and corrective actions.
•In collaboration with Food Service Director and student wellness, responsible for creating standard operating procedures to accommodate school community with dietary restrictions and allergies. •Uses creativity to develop new recipes, facilitate the exchange of ideas and new culinary trends, techniques, and recipes among the academy's kitchen sites and make effective use of available government commodities.
•Guides the daily production, production records, food prep list and assignments, and understands the regulations of preparing and serving in matters of temperature, appearance, and portion size.
•Orders appropriate quantities of food and supplies and ensures proper storage and authorized use. Checks goods received against requisitions and invoices. Takes periodic inventories of food and supplies on hand.
•Assists in food service personnel interviews, conferences and managers meetings as needed.
•Assists in evaluating performance of nutrition services personnel through interviews, in-service training, observation and documentation within established policies and procedures.
•Responsible to ensure Health Department inspections with no red violations in the kitchen.
•Adheres to Meal pattern, Nutrition guidelines, War on waste and Waste Management policies.
•Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications Education and Experience:
•High School graduate or equivalent. College degree preferred.
•2-3 years managerial experience and managing data effectively preferred.
•Proven dependability and reliability.
•Have high organizational skills.
•Effective written and verbal skills.
•Customer service experience
•Experience working with computers including word processing, spreadsheets, and navigating the Internet as well as basic financial skills including budgeting, inventory control, fiscal responsibilities, or any combination of training and experience that could likely provide the desired knowledge and abilities.
•Knowledge of Excel, Word, and Office equipment (e.g., computer, copier), City of Houston Food Handler Certification, Ability to drive a vehicle and inspect facilities.
