Wednesday, July 31, 2024 Job Title: Accounting Manager Job Summary: The Accounting Manager will be responsible for performing complex accounting functions, such as account reconciliations, business tax reporting, general ledger duties, the preparation of various financial reports, and performing other ad-hoc duties. Must have knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (US GAAP), strong financial analysis skills, and be highly organized. Responsible for communicating clearly and concisely to financial and non-financial colleagues, both orally and in writing. Questioning the status quo by offering thought-provoking and creative solutions. This is a virtual position; applicants MUST live in the east coast time zone. Supervisory Responsibilities: • Assists in recruiting, interviewing, hiring, and training new staff. • Oversees the daily workflow of the department. • Provides constructive and timely performance evaluations. • Handles discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy. Duties/Responsibilities: • Supervise daily accounting operations, including managing accounts payable, accounts receivable, tracking contractor pay, general ledger, and payroll. • Maintain accurate accounting records for the US entity SEAS Geosciences in compliance with US GAAP and its branch located in Italy. • Drive the monthly financial close process: performing bank reconciliations, preparing account reconciliations, and financial statements. Responsible for ensuring that the operations team understands the key elements that drive profitability. • Responsible for the development and upkeep of the Company’s annual budget and monthly forecast. • Responsible for all internal and external audit requests associated with SEAS Geosciences. • Manage one full-time project accountant and a part-time accounts payable clerk. • Collaborate with the Corporate Controller to align with company strategy and goals. • Work closely with other departments to ensure accuracy and completeness of financial data. • Perform other duties as assigned. Required Skills/Abilities: • Advanced Microsoft Office skills, particularly with Excel and PowerPoint. • Comprehensive knowledge of US GAAP. • Strong team player with effective communication and presentation skills as well as a customer service approach. • Knowledge of laws and government regulations. • Ability to multi-task and handle multiple priorities. • Strong attention to detail and strong organizational skills. • Ability to meet stringent deadlines and provide reports on a timely basis. • Ability to work independently. • Clear and effective written and verbal communication and strong interpersonal skills. Education and Experience: • Bachelor’s degree (B.A. / B.S.) or equivalent in Finance or Accounting. • Five years of experience working in a similar role. • Experience with foreign currency and international operations. Preferred: • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA). • Familiarity with D365 and related tools. • Working knowledge of VAT tax. • Special attention to those who are self-motivated with a sense of urgency, have a hands-on mentality, and approach work with a ‘no job is too small’ attitude.
