Extreme Engineering Solutions (X-ES) is actively looking for an entry-level accountant for our Staff/Payroll Accountant opening. The ideal candidate would have a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, demonstrate a willingness to learn new things, and exhibit strong attention to detail. This role primarily involves Accounting duties, with an additional focus on Payroll, comprising approximately 80% Accounting responsibilities and 20% Payroll tasks.
Duties and Responsibilities
Accounting:
Support the monthly close process, including preparing journal entries and updating our financial close software
Perform general ledger account analysis and monthly reconciliations
Assist in preparing for our annual review, benefit plan audits, and multi-state income tax returns filings
Provide support to A/P as needed, such as expense reports, POs, and insurance bills
Analyze and record COGS
Special projects as requested by Controller
Support the development and performance management of the Finance team
Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings
Payroll:
Process biweekly payroll for employees accurately and on time using payroll software (UKG Workforce Management)
Reconcile payroll discrepancies and resolve any issues that arise
Address any payroll-related inquiries or concerns in a timely and professional manner
Record payroll journal entries, including accruals, and reconcile payroll-related general ledger accounts
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations and laws
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting with strong knowledge of GAAP; equivalent related work experience may be considered in lieu of required degree
Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
Computer proficiency and a high level of organization with clear attention to detail and problem-solving ability
Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills
Ability to work efficiently and independently
Ability to work onsite from our facility located at 9901 Silicon Prairie Parkway in Verona, WI
Desired Qualifications
Prefer zero to two (0-2) years of accounting experience in a manufacturing setting
Experience with or understanding of payroll processing, fixed assets, and month-end close
Able to relate to people at all levels of the organization in a professional and positive fashion
Self-directed with a solid work ethic and drive to learn new skills
Compensation and Benefits
