We are looking for our next HR Leader: Sr. HR Generalist

About Us

The Children's Receiving Home of Sacramento provides a spectrum of services for youth in crisis across the Sacramento region. Founded in 1944 through a cooperative effort of the Junior League of Sacramento and the Rotary Club of Sacramento, CRH has risen to meet the specific needs of each child in need of our care for 79 years. Previously at two other locations, the Children's Receiving Home has been located at its current site since 1965, on six acres of land deeded to the agency by the City of Sacramento.

The continuum of care we offer includes an on-site preschool for the youngest survivors of family trauma; outpatient mental health care for children residing in the community dealing with anxiety and depression; and residential treatment for children who have suffered abuse, neglect or other trauma.

As the Senior Human Resources Generalist, you will act as the HR Leader for the organization, handling every aspect of the employee cycle.

What you will work on
  • Develop and maintain the implementation of HR strategies, programs, and procedures.
  • Maintains all physical HR documents including personnel files as well as electronic Human Resources Information System (HRIS)/Payroll.
  • Ensures that HR policies and procedures manuals are current, reflect the needs of the organization and are reviewed annually.
  • Provide leadership and direction on HR matters that pertain to CRH; advise, guide, interpret, and make recommendations regarding HR policies, objectives, operational procedures, statutory regulations/laws and compliance activities to all levels of staff.
  • Monitor all staff in resolving employee relations issues including, but not limited to, involuntary termination, employee disciplinary action and grievances.
  • Manage employee retention through a host of efforts including employee relations, program enhancements, training, compensation program, etc.
  • Oversee talent acquisition program by creating a compliant and creative recruitment strategy; participate in and lead hiring managers through the interview to hire process including onboarding activities.
  • Benefits administration to include annual open enrollment, claims resolution, change reporting, approving invoices for payment and communicating benefit information to employees.
  • Alignment with Finance team on HR related fiscal management, budgets and billings.
  • Highly involved in all employment related CRH activities
  • Oversee the Employee Appreciation Committee and participate in other committees as deemed appropriate.
  • Participates in accreditation activities on an annual basis.

  • Strong interpersonal skills; ability to coach and mentor, lead and support all employees across the organization.
  • BA in Human Resources or equivalent experience in an HR role.
  • Willingness to complete a variety of certifications and trainings within a designated timeframe once joined.

Qualifications:

Language Ability:

Ability to read, analyze and interpret documents such as client safety/treatment plans, assessment materials and procedure manuals. Ability to write professional/clinical reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

Computer Skills:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Web Internet Platforms, and Paycom or similar HRIS program.

Education/Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree (B.A.) in Human Resources or related field.
  • Three years related experience or equivalent combination of education and related work experience required.
  • PHRca certification desired.
Licenses, Certifications, Registrations:
  • Must possess a valid California Driver's License.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Must pass First Aid certification course before start of employment. Certification can be completed through the Children's Receiving Home.
  • Must pass CPR within the first six weeks of employment
  • Must pass Bloodborne Pathogens and Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) certification courses offered through the Children's Receiving Home within the first three months of employment.
  • Must maintain TCI, CPR, First Aid and BBP Certification throughout employment.
  • Must complete online Mandated Reporter Training within first week of employment.
Knowledge, Skills and Other Abilities:
  • Must be able to read, write, speak and understand the English language.
  • Knowledge of current human resources principles and practices, including Federal and State labor laws and regulations pertaining to wage, hours, benefits, EEO, ADA and workers compensation.
