Job Summary:

The EHS Coordinator (B shift) is responsible for ensuring on-shift adherence of safety procedures, policies and practices for a complex manufacturing facility. They will work on programs centered on local, state, and federal standards while assisting with implementation and execution of various company programs, policies and initiatives developed by EHS leadership.
  • Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Perform safety patrols on a continual basis, with observation at various manufacturing entrances, areas and at pre-shift meetings ensure availability of PPE at dispensing stations and adherence to usage requirements at all times. Reports all violations to EHS leadership for corrective action. Communicates requirements to team members and leadership including when gaps exist with adherence to company policies.
  • Conduct safety training (Safety 101, 102 and Environmental 101) for the assigned shift.
  • Assist Manager with gathering information that support investigations across all departments in the organization.
  • Act as point person with onsite Clinic staff in the event of emergency Team Member situations. Works closely with Manufacturing and other leadership to communicate clinic hours of operation and provide emergency/first aid support when clinic is not staffed.
  • First responder to Manufacturing floor issues that may be more than first aid including support and coordination of on-shift investigation process. Coordinates with Security and other leadership for Emergency Response, crowd control, etc.
  • Identify hazards in the facility, using before/after documentation, and alerts Manager of all findings for corrective action. Provide periodic follow-up and review of countermeasure effectiveness.
  • Identifies, documents and assists with corrective measures for near miss/unsafe conditions and behavioral-based safety observations, etc. Performs various audit activities to ensure conformance.
  • Provide support and communication to the EHS Environmental group with training, spill response, and general adherence to department procedures and practices.
  • Periodic travel to other Aisin facilities or vendors is required.
  • Other related duties as assigned.
Accountabilities:
  • Coordinates on-shift support of EHS programs that reduce the potential for accidents.
  • Serve as a first contact for TM's and Leaders and build effective relationships with the manufacturing and support departments.
  • Assist and conduct continuous improvement activities. Assist with new EHS initiatives/programs.
  • Meet deadlines and due dates involving moderately complex safety programs and initiatives.
  • Responsiveness to internal TM's and Leaders regarding EHS matters.
  • Conduct effective and thorough investigations and report findings to leadership
Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in relevant field, preferred. Associate degree in relevant field and/or equivalent experience may be considered.
  • OSHA-30 certification and CPR/First Aid/AED preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of practical experience in the field of Environmental, Health and Safety in a large manufacturing facility.
  • Inspection experience with radiation equipment, crane operations, health programs, machine guarding, investigations, OSHA, LOTO, Hazardous Communication, etc.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, as required.
  • Excellent analytical, written, and verbal communication skills as well as strong interpersonal skills
  • Well organized and possess the ability to handle numerous tasks while being able to work with a variety of people with varying backgrounds and job functions.
  • Prior experience achieving measurable and sustainable results in a lean manufacturing environment.
  • Solid working knowledge and demonstrated experience with Microsoft Office and other computer-based applications (e.g., MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, Outlook, Internet, etc.).
Physical Demands:
  • Working in an industrial environment and with associated external properties
  • Lifting and handling heavy objects up to 50 pounds; frequent walking/standing
  • Driving / traveling to/from/between AISIN North Carolina facilities, vendors/suppliers, and other sites/locations as necessary.
