Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Health Physicist to join our team at the Environmental Protection Agency. As a key member of our Safety, Health, and Environmental Management (SHEM) team, you will be responsible for managing a comprehensive radiation safety program and ensuring the protection of employees, contractors, and the public from radiation hazards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop, implement, and oversee a radiation safety program that meets or exceeds regulatory requirements
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure compliance with environmental laws and regulations
  • Review and certify hazardous material and waste shipment documentation
  • Serve as a Contracting Officer Representative (COR) for contracts necessary to provide SHEM Program Services
  • Provide technical guidance and support to employees and contractors on radiation safety procedures and protocols
Requirements
  • Bachelor's or higher degree in physical science, engineering, or mathematics with 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science
  • Or a combination of education and experience with education equivalent to one of the majors listed, plus appropriate experience or additional education
  • 1 year of full-time specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 level, assisting with a radiation safety program, presenting technical information related to radioactive materials, and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders
