Overview:

This Financial Analyst will prepare/analyze financial and tax information to provide to management, internal/external auditors and other interested parties; adherence to internal controls while ensuring the quality of data being reported.

Primary Responsibilities:

Perform problem solving, processing, analysis and review of financial results; highlight significant trends. Analyze results and provide input for management recommendations. Preparation of Corporate Federal Compliance and Corporate Multi-State Compliance Tax Returns while ensuring compliance with all applicable tax laws and regulations Preparation of Monthly Tax Provisions Preparation and payment of quarterly jurisdictional estimated tax payments Communicating through both written and verbal correspondence with Federal and State taxing authorities (audits & notices) Prepare and maintain internally generated periodic reports for distribution to management. Select alternatives from defined options in a variety of work routines by applying basic finance or accounting concepts. Display basic proficiency in the systems/tools used to generate standard financial reports on a periodic basis. Apply foundational finance and accounting concepts through the aggregation of financial data Display foundational understanding of M&T's (or applicable Business Unit within) financial statements; including awareness of key drivers/trends in major Balance Sheet and Income Statement line items. Participate in training and development opportunities across Finance. Be aware and adhere to department timelines and deliverables. Understand and adhere to the Company’s risk and regulatory standards, policies and controls in accordance with the Company’s Risk Appetite. Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management. Promote an environment that supports diversity and reflects the M&T Bank brand. Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable. Complete other related duties as assigned.

Supervisory/Managerial Responsibilities:

May train junior staff

Education and Experience Required:

Associate's degree and a minimum of 2 years of experience in accounting, auditing, operations or financial institutions OR a Bachelor's degree.

Knowledge of activities in own job; skills gained through training or experience

High level of PC competencies (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Access. Data visualization or data querying applications are a plus.)

Education and Experience Preferred:

Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting or related field.

Working knowledge of OneSource Tax Software, Tableau and/or Alteryx preferred.

M&T Bank is committed to fair, competitive, and market-informed pay for our employees. The pay range for this position is $24.76 - $41.27 Hourly (USD). The successful candidate’s particular combination of knowledge, skills, and experience will inform their specific compensation.
