CARS Intake Administrative Coordinator
Behavioral Health Services
**Hourly Range**: $26.08 - $39.12
The Community Access to Recovery Services (CARS) is a branch of the Behavioral Health Services of Milwaukee County. The department provides a full array of supportive, recovery-oriented services for persons with severe and persistent mental illness and/or issues with alcohol or other drug use. CARS serve over 9000 Milwaukee County residents each year to ensure individuals receive high-quality services for mental health and/or AODA needs.
**Job Summary**: The CARS Intake Administrative Coordinator performs assessments, approves, monitors, and manages referrals to Behavioral Health Services CARS programs such as case management, outpatient services, ancillary services, day treatment, and residential services. This position provides linkages to services and resources in the community that help meet client needs. Follows up with clients to ensure they are successful in the next steps of their recovery journey.
**Job Duties**:
- Perform assessments, manage access, monitoring, case planning, intake, and referral to all long-term support programs (e.g. Case Management, Community Recovery Services, Outpatient, Day Treatment, Peer Support, and Residential Services).
- Ability to conduct assessments, provide service authorization, collaborate with referral sources, and develop care plans under state guidelines.
- Provide linkages to services and resources in the community that help meet client needs.
- Follow up with clients to ensure they are successful in the next steps of their recovery journey.
- Assess for client suicide risk through use of CSSR-S. Address client risk factors when clinically indicated with use of SAFE-T. Consult with supervisor, lead, and/or Intake Team when necessary.
- Effective oral and written communication skills, organizational skills, ability to work effectively and harmoniously with staff, clients, families, community organizations, and the public.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
**Minimum Qualifications**:
- Current resident of the state of Wisconsin required.
- Valid Wisconsin driver’s license with access to an insured and reliable vehicle; both maintained throughout employment required.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher required.
- At least three (3) years of related experience in the Mental Health and/or Substance Abuse Disorder fields required.
- Proficient computer skills, including experience using Microsoft Office software such as Word and Excel required.
- Able and willing to travel 25% of work time required.
**Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities**: Knowledge of federal, state, and county regulations in relation to the provision of mental health services. These regulations include Chapter 51 & 34, Wisconsin Administrative Code for Community Services, Wisconsin Administrative Code for Community Services, Milwaukee County Master Plan, HFS 105, Housing and Urban Development, and Wisconsin Medicare, and the Medicaid System. Understanding of supportive services such as community support programs, targeted case management, CCS, employment programs, day treatment/outpatient programs, substance use disorder treatment, and homeless services, etc. Oral and written communication skills; report writing skills; analytical skills; organizational skills; ability to work effectively and harmoniously with staff, clients, community organizations, and the public.
