Huntsman is seeking a Process Development Chemist supporting the Advanced Materials Division located in Los Angeles, California. This position will report to the Process Development Manager.
As the Process Development Chemist, you will:
- Act as process owner in projects, taking results into production.
- Work as a team member at process/product introduction.
- Possess recognised knowledge of chemical processes at an international level across multiple sites.
- Propose solutions to improve productivity, EHS, PSM, quality, and reliability.
- Follow all Quality policies and procedures.
- Be a valuable point of contact for our internal customers like PM's, Marketing, Technology & Innovation, Manufacturing, Quality, Engineering
- Be an efficient point of contact for all colleagues in the global PD organization.
- Follow all EHS policies and procedures.
MAJOR TASKS
- Participate in New Products Introduction (NPI) and scale-up, from Innovation to Production, including making and testing adhesives and similar products.
- Support requalification projects due to the replacement of raw materials, suppliers, site transfers, process changes, etc.
- Support the Manufacturing department with process improvement projects and troubleshooting, including root cause analysis.
- Interact with internal and external customers, including Customer Service, our Texas-based technical teams, and Quality.
- Provide technical support to QC laboratory personnel.
- Manage lab inventories.
Required Qualifications:
**Education**:
- BSc in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or relevant discipline.
**Experience**:
- At least 3 years in an innovation laboratory, production or process development area, preferably in a multinational (industrial) company.
Know-how/Skills:
- Knowledge of organic chemistry, polymeric chemistry, and epoxy chemistry.
- Knowledge of chemical engineering and understanding of chemical production process a plus.
- Knowledge of analytical methodology and proficiency with statistical principles.
- Excellent computer skills (Microsoft Office Suite).
- Project Management skills a plus
- Strong work ethic.

- Knowledge in reaction kinetics and modelling
- Good knowledge of safe laboratory practices
