**Duties**:
As a SUPERVISORY EDUCATION PRGM SPECIALIST, you will:

- Oversee the design, development and implementation of K-12 educational programs, products, services, and partnerships for elementary, secondary collegiate, and adult audiences based on national standards and constituent needs.
- Work with curriculum development consultants, educators, and leaders in professional organizations to determine topics for presentation; utilizes current assessment techniques to evaluate materials; and builds on findings and broad reading in professional journals to create new or modified programs.
- Serve as a representative of NARA in the larger archival and museum communities and facilitates NARA's cooperative efforts with these institutions for educational activities and programming.
- Oversee the planning and development of a program of professional development and training for educators and teachers nationwide, which promote the understanding of archives, acquiring traditional and online research skills, using archival documents in teaching and learning, and recognizing the importance of document-based educational programs for archives; evaluates training results; and uses findings to plan and develop a new or modified program.

The experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis. **Specialized Experience**:For the GS-15, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-14 grade level in the Federal service**. **Specialized experience for this position includes:
Teaching students (K-12) and doing professional development by training educators in developing educational content;
**AND**
Creating educational material via state/national standards (K-12);
**AND**
Working in the education community (regional/state/national) on partnerships or collaborations;
**AND**
Establishing performance standards and program objectives to meet educational program goals.

**Basic Requirements**:
Degree: that included or was supplemented by at least 24 semester hours in a field related to the work of the position to be filled, of which at least 9 semester hours must have been in education courses.

Combination of education and experience - at least 24 semester hours in a field related to the work of the position to be filled, of which at least 9 semester hours must have been in education courses, plus appropriate experience or additional education. The experience must reflect the level and kind described in C below.
**OR**
Four years of experience that demonstrated a thorough understanding of the principles and practices underlying the work of this series. This experience must have been of such character and diversity to demonstrate that the applicant possesses an understanding of the field comparable to that normally acquired through successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university.

At least 1 full academic year of professional teaching experience. This experience is defined as full and primary responsibility, under general supervision, for instruction of assigned students in an accredited school or institution.
