Assistant Store Manager (ASM)

Job Summary

Provides respectful customer service. Assists the Store Manager in the daily operation of a retail store. Under the direction of the Store Manager, maintains inventories, maintains store appearance and completes day-to-day paperwork.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities:

- At the direction of the Store Manager, supervises, trains and develops store team members on The Discount Store operating practices and procedures.
- Must be able to effectively communicate and explain these (and other) standards/procedures to team members when directed by Store Manager.
- Greets and assists customers in a positive, approachable manner. Answers questions and resolves customer inquiries and concerns.
- Handles situations with the best interest of both the customer and Company in mind.
- At the direction of the Store Manager, maintains a clean, well-stocked store for customers.
- At the direction of the Store Manager, stocks shelves and maintains merchandising standards.
- Maintains a positive image to customers and community.
- Accurately handles customer funds and processes transactions using the POS system.
- At the direction of the Store Manager, assists in unloading all merchandise from delivery truck, organizes merchandise, and transfers merchandise from stockroom to store.
- Assists the Store Manager in loss prevention by maintaining a presence in the store and providing excellent customer service.
- At direction of Store Manager, assumes certain management responsibilities in absence of the Store Manager.
- Follows all Company Policies and Procedures.
- “Go the extra mile” to drive sales

Job Qualifications
- MUST BE 18 or older.
- MUST HAVE 1Year Minimum Management Experience.
- MUST BE Computer competent.
- MUST HAVE reliable means of transportation.
- MUST KNOW basics math.
- Bilingual in Spanish is preferred, but not required.

Physical Demands
- Position requires standing and walking all day (except break/lunch).
- Will be required to bend, lift, push and pull.
- Finger dexterity required.
- Hand coordination required.
- Not afraid to get hands wet/dirty and clean merchandise whenever is necessary.
- Specific vision abilities required for this job include: close vision and attention to detail.

Work Environment
- Close toed shoes are required.
- Retail store environment, exceptional customer service
- Loud noises (i.e., store music & warehouse equipment).

Pay: $17.00 - $20.00 per hour
