Working at the direction of the Payroll & Benefits Manager, the Payroll & Benefits Assistant will be primarily responsible for assisting with payroll administration including timekeeping, creation of semi-monthly payrolls, administration of employee benefits and related tasks, able to understand the basic principles of timekeeping and payroll obligations, and other relevant policies and procedures. They will perform a variety of record keeping duties including entering, compiling and reporting data, as well as system maintenance. Fluent in English and Spanish, the Payroll & Benefits Assistant will translate important documents and conduct important employee conversations in both languages. An administrative professional, the Payroll & Benefits Assistant will copy and scan documents, handle electronic filing, and provide exceptional customer service, able to answer routine questions for Team Members at all levels, from all departments. They will contribute to the overall success of the Payroll and Human Resources divisions, embracing teamwork, practicing complete discretion and reliably safeguarding confidential information.
- Bi-lingual fluency in English and Spanish required, able to accurately translate from one language to the other both orally and in writing to a degree appropriate for documents with legal ramifications
- High school diploma required; bachelor’s degree preferred
- At least 1 year of prior related payroll or human resources experience, or 2 years of administrative experience, preferably in a similar luxury environment
- Strong Math skills and great attention to detail
- A service-oriented personality; positive attitude, approachable and outgoing without being overbearing, possessing a pleasant and caring manner with everyone
- Able to communicate effectively and professionally with all stakeholders; to follow oral and written instructions and to memorize necessary information
- Intermediate to advanced computer skills particularly Excel; facility with Word, PowerPoint; able to learn new programs quickly and easily
- A team player able to work well with others
- Exceptional grooming habits, reliably presenting in clean professional business attire
- Strong work ethic; punctual and reliable
- Able to occasionally work long hours on weekends or holidays, as needed
- Able to work efficiently and effectively with minimum supervision; comfortable with frequent interruptions; able to juggle multiple competing priorities and meet deadlines
