**Duties**:
Duties include, but are not limited to the following:

- Serves as a member of the Bureau of Labor Statistics Publishing staff with responsibility for assisting in the production and coordination to develop professional-level graphics, publications, and visual material.
- Assists with creative projects, demonstrating knowledge of visual arts methods and design best practices, and translating ideas and concepts into high-quality print and online products; including brand development, digital design, print promotions, and other graphic art-related projects.
- Provides graphic support for all Bureau of Labor Statistics publications (e.g., _Monthly Labor Review, Beyond the Numbers, Spotlight on Statistics_), as well as input on planning and carrying out the visual information aspects of the publishing office.
- Collaborates with coworkers and project team members to create and produce original digital design materials, such as videos, social media marketing, motion graphics, charts, maps, and other visual information.
- Assists with the evaluation of new products, technology, and methodologies for improvement to capabilities and services for the graphics and printing section, as well as informing the staff and others how new technology can benefit the publishing processes at the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

**_Education_** - Undergraduate and Graduate Education: Major study - commercial art, fine arts, art history, industrial design, architecture, drafting, interior design, photography, visual communication, or other fields related to the position.

- **Minimum Qualifications: Visual Information Specialist, GS-1084**:
**Specialized Experience **is the experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA's) to perform the duties of the position successfully, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level.
- **GS-07**:Applicants must have 52 weeks of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level GS-05 in the Federal Service. _Qualifying specialized experience includes_:

- Applied knowledge of a variety of computer graphic, drawing, presentation and other software to plan, design, and create visual projects;
- Provided basic digital design/visual information services to customers.

**GS-09**:Applicants must have 52 weeks of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level GS-07 in the Federal Service. _Qualifying specialized experience includes_:

- Produced digital products or materials using various computer software and devices;
- Provided intermediate digital design/visual information services to customers.

Superior Academic Achievement is based on (1) class standing, (2) grade-point average, or (3) honor society membership.
- 1) Class standing - Applicants must be in the upper third of the graduating class in the college, university, or major subdivision, such as the College of Liberal Arts or the School of Business Administration, based on completed courses.
- 2) Grade-point average (G.P.A.) - Applicants must have a grade-point average of: 2.95 or higher out of a possible 4.0 ("B" or better) as recorded on their official transcript, or as computed based on 4 years of education, or as computed based on courses completed during the final 2 years of the curriculum; or 3.45 or higher out of a possible 4.0 ("B+" or better) based on the average of the required courses completed in the major field or the required courses in the major field completed during the final 2 years of the curriculum.- **GS-09**:Master's or equivalent graduate degree **_or_** 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree **_or_**LL.B. or J.D., if related.
