**About the Role**:
The DFAS Supervisor is passionate about organ and tissue donation and dedicated to helping the department in achieving the primary objectives of (1) providing the utmost care and support to potential donor families, (2) obtaining authorization from families for organ, tissue and eye donation, and (3) ensuring that First Person Authorizations are articulated meaningfully to family members so as to elicit their help and support to carry out the donor’s own wishes (4) and overall, creating value for the potential donor families, DNA staff, health care professionals and the larger community.
The supervisor is responsible for maintaining the standards of the department which include supporting families in crisis, ensuring family understanding and acceptance of death, explaining organ and/or tissue donation, obtaining authorization, obtaining medical/social history, assisting the donor family while at the hospital, and providing post-donation follow-up to the donor family.
This position is responsible for supporting the Donor Family Advocates and related supervisory tasks such as: scheduling, timekeeping, reimbursement approvals, etc. Also performs Donor Family Advocate responsibilities directly as needed.
Responsibilities are to be carried out in a fashion that reflects DNA’s comprehensive/full-service approach to donation. This position is expected to participate and cooperate with all members of DNA’s recovery and education staff and administration.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Completes biweekly timecard and supplemental pay review for assigned staff.
Coordinates scheduling including Paid Time Off (PTO).
Participates in monthly scheduling and updates schedule on SharePoint and Teams.
Approves of monthly expense reports.
Provides oversight of Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) training and documentation.
Provides staff member support and communicates expectations.
Monitors staff member engagement, attendance, etc.
Makes recommendations on employment such as hiring, performance management, recognition, suggestions to improve working conditions, safety, etc.
Participates and gives insight for the strategic planning process.
Assists DFAS Manager with Bright Spot Letters for Tim Brown.
Works with the Aftercare department staff to ensure seamless care for donor families.
Assists DFAS Manager in reviewing existing SOPs and create new SOPs as needed.
Ensures SOP training and documentation is up-to-date timely.
Participates in the interview process for Donation and Family Advocates.

Covers DFA Advisor on Call (AOC) on an ongoing shared basis, a minimum of 7 days in a 28 day schedule. As DFA AOC, is responsible to assist or guide the following:
Coordinates/collaborates with Organ Recovery Coordinator (ORC)/Advisor on Call (AOC) for daily assignments, with the possibility of reaching out to Clinical Risk Person.
Performs Legal Next of Kin (LNOK) and Accurint Searches.
Completes registry confirmations.
Reviews charting, progress notes and Authorization/Uniform Donor Risk Assessment Interview (UDRAI) paperwork.
Provides real time education, mentoring and support for DFAs.
Performs troubleshooting and problem solving.
Participates on all Objection Calls.

**Administrative responsibilities**:
Performs all duties of Donor Family and Advocate Services in an efficient and effective manner.
Maintains accurate records.
Assures compliance with all SOPs.
Assists DFAS Manager to develop and implement long and short-term goals for the strategic planning process.
Assists with Annual Authorization Planning.
Attends and participates in weekly IPAR meetings.
Participates in DNA committees and needed.
Participates in Joint Meetings, All Staff Meetings, DFA Retreats, etc.
Facilitates Memorial Card pickup and mailing as needed.
**Family Support Services**:
Ensures the conversation about donation is facilitated in a manner that respects the potential donor, reflects consideration of the most appropriate timing and context for the discussion, demonstrates sensitivity to relevant cultural, religious or other beliefs and values, conveys an understanding of interpersonal dynamics among those involved in the decis
