Northern Arizona University's College of Arts & Letters is now hiring Technical Director to oversee the smooth technical operation of three performing arts venues. Located on Northern Arizona University’s Flagstaff Campus and reporting to the Manager, Theater & Public Events, this position is responsible for overseeing all technical production requirements for concerts & recitals, public events, and an annual opera.

Production & Staging - 25%
- Helps to plan, select, and create work methods, work procedures, workflow, and standards for quantity and quality of work on stage. Directs and/or executes all stage work.
- Executes lighting and sound systems; coordinates the installation of stage scenery/props and/or lighting using ETC consoles.
- Coordinates with artists or production representatives and reviews technical riders to ascertain technical and logístical needs for the production; determines feasibility and makes arrangements for special staging, rental equipment, special effects, and Coordinates, supervises, and executes the stage and equipment set up and the loading and unloading of trucks.
- Coordinates, supervises, and executes the safe operation and maintenance of lighting, sound systems, rigging systems, and power sources on a regular basis.

Facilities Oversight - 25%
- Coordinates, monitors, and oversees all maintenance and repair of facilities done in house, by NAU’s Facilities Services, or outside contractors.
- Liaises with and provide input to designers and contractors concerning technical performance venue aspects of major remodels, renovations, construction projects, or equipment installation and upgrade.

Supervision - 25%
- Trains and supervises student stage crew employees.
- Provides on-site supervision of events to ensure technical production requirements are met.

Administration - 20%
- Prepares reports such as event evaluations, industrial injury summaries and expenditure summaries for events as required.
- Recommends purchase of new or replacement equipment; orders materials for production and maintains inventory of all equipment and supplies.
- Communicates to all parties in writing regarding schedules, changes or other pertinent information.
- Estimates technical needs & associated costs for events with supervisor and facilities users.
- Determines staffing needs for events and collaborates with other Auditoria Management on crew scheduling and event staffing.
- Coordinates backstage tours as required.

Other - 5%
- Other duties as assigned.

**Minimum Qualifications**
- Associate’s or Bachelor's Degree in relevant field AND
- Two to three years of theater production or live event experience which includes stage management or higher levels of responsibility; OR,
- A combination of related education, experience and training may be used as an equivalent to the above Minimum Requirements.

**Preferred Qualifications**
- Experience managing and training stage & event crew.
- Full working knowledge of sound and lighting design, practices, principles, and implementation (including the use of CAD and/or Vectorworks.
- Demonstrated proficiency running audio during live events.
- Knowledge of current information technologies systems as used in performing arts venues.
- Knowledge of set design and construction techniques.

**FLSA Status**

This position is exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and therefore will not earn overtime or compensatory time for additional time worked.
