Reporting to the Assistant Vice Chancellor, Academic Partnerships (AVCAP), the Director of Student Financial Education and Essential Support Services is responsible for leading and advancing inclusive student financial education and extending basic needs programs and services that: 1) empowers and directly supports the holistic development of student well-being efforts; and, 2) delivers core student needs for undergraduate, graduate, and professional students. The Director will advance the mission of Student Affairs to advance the academic, personal and professional development of students. This will be accomplished by cultivating and implementing a revised strategic plan that will offer life-long financial literacy knowledge, well-being, and success for all UCLA undergraduate, graduate, and professional students, alumni, and campus community members through focused education, services, and relationships.- The incumbent leads and supervises a team of student service-focused staff and students assistants with intake services, programming, marketing, assessment strategies, student financial-related services, and basic need programs that includes:
- loan service and counseling functions: electronic and paper disbursement of loan proceeds, the Short-Term Loan Program, institutional loan services, Entrance Counseling, Exit Counseling;
- debt management counseling and collection services: long-term and short-term loan debt management and collections, receivables collections, loan reconciliation and reporting for certain federal programs, loan & receivable accounting, billing servicer and external collection agencies, potential small claims court activities and cohort default;
- financial wellness services: peer counseling, money management trainings, student financial health assessments; and,
- intake, case management, and coordination support for financially distressed students experiencing economic crisis to identify emergency grants, loans, meal voucher support, and other services through campus partners.

**Qualifications**
- Experience with student financial education strategies and approaches in a large university environment that support undergraduate, graduate, and professional degree students. (required)
- Experience negotiating contracts with UCLA departments and vendors (required)
- Demonstrated organizational skills to lead, develop a team, and supervise a large and diverse professional and administrative staff in multiple locations; organize work flow to accomplish stated objectives; delegate responsibility; train and evaluate subordinates' effectiveness; administer discipline (required)
- Interpersonal skills with analyzing information, problems, situations, practices or procedures to: define the problem/objective; identify relevant concerns or factors; formulate logical and objective conclusions; recognize alternatives and their implications. (required)
- Demonstrated interpersonal skills to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with students, administrators, staff, faculty, former students, technical staff, vendors, and other constituents. (required)
- Capability to lead and support student essential need services, with a focus on student financial well-being efforts, to establish, deliver and advance creative and sustainable goals. (required)
- Knowledge of student loan and financial aid policies and procedures. (required)
- Ability to manage financial, space, equipment and material resources, including developing plans and justifying acquisitions.
