Under general direction, manages and directs nursing and/or administrative functions, activities, services, and staff for Santa Clara Valley Healthcare (SCVH). This position is responsible for the standards of care, practice, and quality governing nursing practice. This position has the authority for recruitment, retention, education, and oversight of the practice of nursing in the healthcare setting throughout all assigned clinical practice areas.

**St. Louise**: St. Louise Regional Hospital, one of the three major community hospitals under County of Santa Clara Health System is looking for an experienced healthcare executive to lead and oversee the clinical and patient-care standards of its nursing department. This position will be under the general direction of the Chief Operating Officer - St. Louise and guidance of the Chief Nursing Executive. Under general direction, the Nursing Executive shall manage and direct the Critical Care, Emergency Department, Perioperative and Sterile Processing, Medical-Surgical Pediatrics, Maternal Child Health, Wound Care, Quality Department, Infection Prevention, Infusion Center and Nursing Administration Services, within the hospital, including patient care functions, units, and services of the Medical Center.

**Typical Management Responsibilities**
- Responsible for overseeing the overall nursing operations for multiple services lines, departments, or a hospital.
- Directs the daily operations of nursing services to ensure safe, timely, effective, efficient, equitable, and patient centered care that is well-integrated with clinical disciplines;
- Plans, organizes, directs, manages, and evaluates services, short
- and long-term goals, objectives, policies, procedures, activities, programs, staff, and functions of assigned responsibilities;
- Develops, implements, evaluates, and monitors services and programs to ensure quality, patient and staff safety, infection prevention, and compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and accreditation standards within assigned areas of responsibility;
- Designs, recommends, and initiates efficient, cost-effective approaches and programs to ensure that quality, timely, and appropriate services are provided;
- Provides administrative direction and serves as a liaison with medical staff and ancillary service areas;

Considerable training, education and experience which demonstrates the ability to perform the above tasks and the possession of the following knowledge and abilities.

**Training and Experience Note**:The required knowledge and abilities would typically be acquired through education and experience equivalent to a master's degree in nursing administration, public or business administration, healthcare administration or a closely related field, possession of a California Registered Nurse License, and a minimum of five (5) years of clinical nursing experience in a large health and hospital system, including two (2) years of experience in an administrative/supervisory role.

- Principles and practices of organization, administration, program development, financial planning, and budgeting;
- Principles and practices of personnel management, including human resources, performance evaluation, training, and labor relations;
- Principles of healthcare and hos
