As a Clinical Nurse Specialist, you will provide extensive clinical knowledge in a specialized area of nursing, focusing on cardiovascular care. Your role will involve establishing and maintaining quality standards for nursing practices tailored to a specific patient demographic. You will engage in advanced clinical education, consultation, research, and administrative responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Develop and oversee care standards, recommending enhancements in clinical practices.
2. Collaborate with nursing personnel to assess the age-specific needs of patients and families, creating care plans for complex, high-risk cases.
3. Evaluate the effectiveness of care provided to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
4. Design educational programs for patients and families, assisting nursing staff in implementing these initiatives.
5. Formulate interdisciplinary care plans for high-risk patients, assessing staff knowledge and identifying educational needs.
6. Create and execute educational programs to enhance staff competencies and introduce innovative practices based on advanced clinical trends.
7. Offer consultation to healthcare providers to address the care requirements of individual or groups of patients in various settings.
8. Propose modifications to care standards based on research findings.
9. Define and implement exemplary nursing practices, contributing to staff evaluations and providing coaching.
10. Participate in quality assurance and improvement initiatives, establishing standards and assessing outcomes.
Basic Qualifications:
- Experience: Minimum of three (3) years in a clinical specialty.
- Education: Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree in a clinical nursing field or related area preferred.
- Licensure: Current California RN license and Clinical Nurse Specialist certification by the California Board of Registered Nursing required upon hire.
- Certification: Current BLS certification required.
Additional Requirements:
Ability to work effectively in a Labor/Management Partnership environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience as a Clinical Nurse Specialist is preferred.
- ACLS or PALS certification is preferred.
Kaiser Permanente conducts regular compensation reviews and reserves the right to adjust job descriptions as necessary.
