Acts as the coordinator and resource for the Outreach Phlebotomy Group. Provides operational oversight for all staff and ensure regulatory compliance. Ensures adequate resources to include supplies and trained staff at all outreach locations. Ensures that staff “fit” within each organization with regards to behavioral and technical competence. Works in a collaborative and mutually supportive environment with laboratory office staff, outreach staff and laboratory administration.

**Responsibilities**:

- Maintains a schedule for each site to ensure adequate staffing consistent with the needs of the locations. Periodically review staffing levels to ensure the appropriate mix of volume and hours.
- Schedules and maintains periodic visits to each site to ensure regulatory compliance and receive input from assigned staff.
- Ensures that support equipment such as refrigerators and centrifuges are properly maintained and functional.
- Ensures that all specimen collection is done consistently with standards with regards to proper containers, handling, labeling, and integrity.
- Ensures that patient demographics are properly entered into the HIS. Follows up with staff on entry issues and ensures training as appropriate.
- Ensures that PPE and other safety requirements are maintained in all outreach locations.
- Ensures that each location is maintained in a clean and functional manner.
- Works with assigned staff to resolve unexpected events to find resolution.
- Communicates applicable updates to assigned staff on a regular basis.
- Promote effective and cordial working relationships with all staff. Seeks “win win” solutions in areas of disagreement.
- Acts as the key liaison between the laboratory and clients for all customer service-related issues.
- Has phlebotomy skills and while not expected to a regular expectation, can fill in if required.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.

**REQUIREMENTS**:

- Must have basic computer skills and ability to access internet and other programs applicable to Waterbury Hospital procedures.
- Perform automated functions that fall within job responsibility.
- Good Communication skills
- Ability to work with others in a cordial and supportive manner
- Ability to work in a standing position for long periods of time; bending reaching required, light lifting, less than 5 pounds.
- Exposure to all patient elements, i.e., blood borne pathogens. Exposure to traffic and weather elements
- Driver’s License with good driving record
- High School degree acceptable. Associates preferred
