We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Academic Coach to join our team at Connecticut State Community College. As an Academic Coach, you will play a critical role in planning and implementing dynamic, engaging, and empowering project-based courses for area high school students.
Job Summary:The Academic Coach will be responsible for developing curriculum, designing lesson objectives and daily plans, managing classroom environments, conducting parent/guardian outreach, tracking attendance, and completing student evaluations. The successful candidate will have a strong background in education, experience working with diverse student populations, and excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Key Responsibilities:- Design and implement project-based courses that align with the college's teaching and learning goals and yearly theme.
- Develop and implement assessment and evaluation systems to determine student success on assignments, culminating projects, class participation, and the course.
- Identify and utilize educational reference materials to support student learning.
- Cultivate a culturally responsive and student-centered learning environment.
- Collaborate with the Associate Dean and Program Coordinator to maximize academic benefits for each individual student.
- Direct the work of a teaching assistant (Mentor/Tutor) for the content area.
- Engage in non-instructional virtual activities, including weekly meetings, facilitated study sessions, and co-curricular activities.
- Bachelor's degree in a related field with two or more years of experience working with middle or high school students in an educational setting.
- Demonstrated advanced knowledge and abilities in assessment techniques, cultural responsiveness, and instructional design.
- Proven ability to work effectively with diverse faculty, staff, and students.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, as well as strong information technology literacy skills.
- Connecticut Secondary Teaching Certification.
- Bilingual (Spanish, Albanian).
- Experience utilizing online platforms for communication, assessment, and data collection.
The salary for this position is $39.44 hourly. Connecticut State Community College offers a comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental, and vision insurance, as well as a retirement plan.
