**Position Summary**
SCA's DC Urban Tree House (UTH) Program is based out of Anacostia Park in Washington, DC, and provides free environmental education programs for DC area youth (K-12). The program gives DC youth the opportunity to have fun experiences in nature, become aware of their relationship with the environment, and participate in hands-on conservation projects. The UTH Team consists of 1 Leader, 1 Senior Member, and 6 Volunteer High School Interns. Projects may include: 1) Develop and implement environmental education lessons, games, and activities to K-12 youth under SCA guidance and support 2) Leading nature hikes throughout the local trails 3) Community outreach and stewardship 4) Support local partner events at Anacostia Park
**Schedule**
6/13/24 - 8/23/24
**Key Duties and Responsibilities**
Develop and implement environmental education lessons, games, and activities to K-12 youth under SCA guidance and support; Leading nature hikes throughout the local trails; Community outreach and stewardship; Support local partner events at Anacostia Park and NACE National Parks
**Marginal Duties**
Administrative tasks like weekly report, data collection, expense coding, photo uploads, and incident reports; Attending weekly Leader check-in meetings
**Required Qualifications**
Leaders must be 21+ years old and have at least 3 years of driving experience; Leaders must be able to attend required Leader Training in Clifton, VA; Must have the ability to legally work in the US; Must be able to meet SCA's criminal background check standards; Ability to perform manual, physical labor for up to 8 hours per day, exposed to the elements, and must occasionally lift and/or move 40 pounds or more
**Preferred Qualifications**
Experience with conservation work skills or related skills highly desired - i.e., trail maintenance, planting, etc.; Experience teaching environmental education in informal settings; Experience teaching youth and young adults; Previous supervisory or leadership roles; Experience working outdoors; Experience working with diverse communities and youth groups
**Hours**
40 per week
**Living Accommodations**
No housing provided; Leader must have secured reliable housing prior to the start date
**Compensation**
Leaders paid $800 weekly; Cell phone stipend $45 monthly stipend
