If you have excellent communication, people, and problem-solving skills, have great ideas and are a creative thinker, consider making a difference in the lives of individuals and families in need in our Warrenton VA Shelter program. In addition to providing general office and program support, this position is responsible for volunteer and donation coordination, social media outreach and support of fund-raising events.
The Program Assistant is primary coverage for the Shelter Office and must be able to multi-task, meet deadlines and move projects forward with a degree of independence and initiative. Must be tech savvy and skilled in Microsoft Office. Experience in non-profit, human services or similar field working with vulnerable individuals preferred.
A strong understanding of and adherence to confidentiality and privacy needs while maintaining professional boundaries with both team members and program participants is required. Compassion and regard for individuals facing homelessness is a basic expectation.
Although the typical work schedule for this position is Monday-Friday, some flexibility is necessary to effectively provide office coverage and support programs and events. Learning environment with great professional development opportunities. Come grow with us
- Family Shelter Services operates both a 52-bed Family Shelter in Warrenton VA and a 22-unit Transitional Housing Community in Vint Hill VA, currently serving approximately 400 individuals a year, with 60-65% of those we serve being children. Our mission is to provide short-term shelter, transitional housing, and comprehensive services, means and guidance to homeless individuals and families in our community. Our focus is to promote stable housing, increase economic self-sufficiency, and break the cycle of homelessness—transforming lives._
Pay: $18.00 per hour
