**Duties**:

- Performs video production work and is responsible for setting up cameras, lighting equipment, teleprompter, sound equipment and other operating equipment at location sites.
- Sets up and operates equipment for live and live to tape events throughout the Department, delivers and sets up audiovisual equipment for official meetings and briefings, and trains other employees on usage of audiovisual equipment.
- Creates and manages the production process, and/or directs and edits the production of videotaped and live programs; teleconferences; or other similar productions, with sound accompaniment.

- Controls the artistic and creative aspects of the production and/or oversees all post production processes associated with pre-recorded productions.
- Responsible for coordinating the sets and lighting, selecting music and sound effects, managing rehearsals and determining camera placement and angles.
- The incumbent oversees the daily operation of the section, ensures that agency policies and priorities are being followed; develops performance standards; and evaluates work performance of subordinates.
- Manages and provides oversight for an on-going evaluation system within the Section; ensures that controls are in place and functioning properly; and is responsible for the final vulnerability assessment.
- Plan and organize photographic coverage for a variety of simple to complex technical assignments.
- Customized and artistic photo products, requiring expert skill to reproduce high quality products from conventional digital images using highly specialized equipment including proper use of photo editing software under pressure and short deadlines.
- Knowledge of the selection and use of the proper cameras, lens systems, and appropriate accessories to ensure complete and precise coverage, in order to respond to normal or unique situations that require photographic documentation.
- Set up all related equipment and accessories, such as tripods, lights, props, background pieces and processing systems.
- Performs all preventive maintenance and minor repairs. Incumbent must diagnose and correct operation problems not involving electrical or major mechanical faults to ensure that interruptions in production are held to a minimum.
- Develop, modify or adapt equipment and processes for specialized use to ensure completion of unusual or unprecedented assignments.
- Maintain records for reporting purposes to ensure accurate, up-to-date production figures.
- Total independent judgment is essential. Must draw on experience and knowledge to complete assignments when proper equipment or supplies are not available or when they must be modified.
- Ability to utilize equipment, techniques and processes that must be developed, created or modified to adapt to a wide variety of locations and situations.

**Undergraduate and Graduate Education**:Major study - photography, radio or television production, motion picture production, or other fields related to the position.

**GS-13**: Applicants must have one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade (GS-12) in the federal service.
