University Development and Alumni Relations (UDAR) is dedicated to soliciting the private funding necessary to support the strategic goals of the University in teaching, learning, and research. The personnel of UDAR work university-wide as well as within individual schools and colleges of the University to discover, motivate, cultivate, solicit, and steward alumni, parents, faculty, and friends for immediate, long-range, and future financial support, through gifts and pledges to the University, for critical operations such as student aid, faculty support, academic and research program development, and facilities and infrastructure. UDAR's endeavors raise funds for immediate University use and also for the University's endowment.

The Assistant Director of Development is responsible for supporting a growing parent philanthropy program. Serve as a key member of the Parent and Family Philanthropy team tasked with the development and implementation of a comprehensive engagement and solicitation strategy for families of NYU students. Partner with alumni relations and development staff to research, recruit, and solicit high net worth families while contributing to enhanced engagement of high capacity parents. Manage a portfolio of annual and major gift parent prospects.

Qualifications:
**Required Education**:
Bachelor's Degree

**Required Experience**:
5+ years relevant experience in fundraising, volunteer management, marketing, communications, or a combination of experience and education

**Preferred Experience**:
Fundraising experience in a research university environment, knowledge of parent philanthropy, cultivation and stewardship of individual donors preferred

**Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities**:
Excellent written, interpersonal, and oral communication skills; strong analytical skills

Ability to plan and implement events and develop marketing strategies and proposals to garner philanthropic support

Working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database software

Sensitivity to and ability to maintain confidentiality of information and materials

This position may involve travel occasionally as University policy allows and is reasonably justified towards building relationships and developing philanthropy

**Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities**:
Comfortable creating team-supportive structures such as prospect list and portfolio management, data accuracy, volunteer management systems, and serve as a resource of support and guidance to fundraisers across schools and units

Knowledge of industry-wide best practices for parent philanthropy and engagement

The ability to work independently, manage multiple projects effectively and maintain a high degree of professionalism and confidentiality in a complex team-oriented, environment
