About the Role

International Refugee Assistance Project (IRAP) is seeking an experienced and strategic leader to serve as our Executive Director of Development. This is a unique opportunity to join a dynamic team and make a meaningful impact in the lives of refugees and displaced individuals around the world.

Key Responsibilities
  • Strategic Fundraising: Develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising strategy to grow IRAP's annual budget to $30 million, with a focus on grassroots, major, and principal gifts, special events, and corporate and foundation support.
  • Team Leadership: Directly supervise the Development Leadership Team, comprising the Director of Individual Philanthropy, Director of Institutional Philanthropy, and the Development Operations team lead, and oversee the nine Development team professionals.
  • Donor Engagement: Build and maintain relationships with high-net-worth individuals, major institutional funders, and other key stakeholders to secure funding for IRAP's programs and services.
  • Program Development: Collaborate with the Executive Leadership Team, Development team, and Board of Directors to develop and implement a comprehensive, multi-year plan to maintain organizational health and achieve ambitious impact.
  • Reporting and Analysis: Provide regular analysis and reporting on the overall performance of fundraising against goals and the Annual Plan, and actively manage the Development departmental budget.
  • Communication and Messaging: Work with the Senior Director of Communications to devise and implement compelling and consistent external messaging and build a consistent and recognizable identity to further IRAP's brand and enhance visibility.
  • Team Culture and Development: Identify, develop, and mentor the Development team, and foster a team culture of accountability, collaboration, honesty, respect, and joy.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree required.
  • Experience: At least ten years of professional experience in a mission-driven, nonprofit organization, with demonstrated success in a Development function/role/position, managing and forging relationships with multiple donor sources.
  • Management Experience: Five years of management or supervisory experience required; supervisory experience in a unionized environment preferred.
  • Skills and Competencies: Highly creative and strategic minded; ability to influence and engage a wide range of donors and build long-term relationships; superb writing, communication, and analytical skills; exceptional organizational and time management skills; flexible and adaptable style; ability to work both independently and as a team player.

  • Competitive Salary: Salary range $158,772 - $180,071, based on experience, education, and internal equity.
