Formed initially to retain and attract manufacturing and maritime commerce to the south side of Chicago, our mission has since expanded to include employment and training programs. We're now seeking a District Program Manager to join our team.

**Job Summary -**

The _**Calumet Area Industrial Commission **_will employ the _Special Service Area Business District Program Manager_, who will report to the CAIC President.

The Program Manager will also report to the Director of Business Service Districts. The Manager is responsible for the daily coordination, management, and administration of SSA programs and services, supporting the SSA's commercial district.

**Duties And Responsibilities**:

- **Coordination & Compliance**: Coordinate monthly commission meetings with finance and program committees to ensure compliance with city regulations. Maintain inventory and records for SSA assets and permits.
- **Communication**: Communicate SSA activities to stakeholders and the public. Develop and maintain positive relationships with store owners, property owners, and residents.
- **Financial Management**: Prepare and submit financial reports, budgets, work plans, RFPs, and vendor contracts for approval. Work closely with the CAIC President and SSA Commissioners.
- **Community Engagement**: Collaborate with the local Alderman, City Departments, businesses, and residential organizations on grant-funded initiatives. Build consensus on projects and encourage participation.
- **Marketing & Promotion**: Develop campaigns and initiatives to strengthen neighborhood identity, promote local shopping, and manage seasonal events. Oversee promotional advertising campaigns such as Shop Local/Small Business Saturday.
- **Streetscape & Security**: Manage contracts and vendors for streetscape maintenance, including litter abatement, landscaping, and holiday decorations. Oversee security vendors, develop emergency response plans, and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
- **Project Management**: Create and distribute RFPs/RFQs, manage selected vendors, oversee project completion, and design program evaluations. Prioritize local vendors when applicable.
- **Community Representation**: Attend community meetings to support safety and quality of life initiatives in commercial areas.

**Reporting Responsibilities**:

- Review program initiatives, vendor contracts, and new proposals with the CAIC President regularly.
- Meet monthly with the Chair of the Commissioners for communication and transparency.
- Coordinate with CAIC Accounting Staff to provide quarterly and annual audited financial statements.
- Prepare draft budgets and ensure timely submission in alignment with City of Chicago deadlines.
- Review and approve all media inquiries and publicly released materials with the CAIC President.

**Minimum Skill Sets Required**:

- **Knowledge & Skills**: Understanding of real estate practices and principles. Good knowledge of retail development trends. Proficiency in Microsoft Suite.
- **Communication**: Strong verbal and written communication skills. Must project professionalism and have an outgoing, upbeat personality.
- **Bilingual**: Must be bilingual in English and Spanish.
- **Community Focus**: Residents are strongly encouraged to apply. Applicants must be able to work well with diverse populations and actively address business retention within SSA boundaries.
- **Collaboration**: Work with the Alderman and staff to develop marketing strategies to attract new businesses and keep the CAIC President and Alderman informed of unusual issues.
