The Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Diversity Officer to join our team. As a key member of our organization, you will play a critical role in ensuring compliance with Federal, State, and District Affirmative Action and Equal Employment Opportunity laws, regulations, and requirements.
Key Responsibilities- Provide technical assistance to various internal divisions in developing specifications to include opportunities for Minority, Women-owned, and Small Business Enterprises.
- Conduct detailed reviews of Minority, Women-owned, and Small Business Enterprises identified to participate in District contracts and prepare related reports.
- Review contract agreements between contractors and Minority, Women-owned, and Small Business Enterprise sub-contractors and ensure adherence to requirements.
- Conduct compliance reviews; participate in construction site visits, interviews, and head-counts; audit documentation and ensure compliance to Affirmative Action requirements.
- Assemble quarterly and semi-annual reports concerning contractor activities and compliance with current Federal and State requirements; present budgetary information.
- Monitor computer operations for Affirmative Action systems.
- Conduct conciliations, hearings, and meetings to investigate Affirmative Action disputes.
- Serve as a liaison between the District and community and business organizations; provide advice regarding complex contract issues; participate in community outreach functions.
- Review existing Affirmative Action programs and recommend revisions to Affirmative Action Ordinances.
- Participate in a variety of special projects such as presentations and research projects.
- Assign, supervise, and review work; ensure staff compliance with District policies and procedures including Personnel Rules and Administrative Procedures; complete performance reviews; address employee complaints and grievances; may recommend employment actions such as hiring, transfer, suspension, promotion, or discharge.
- Possession of a valid driver's license.
- Graduation from a four-year accredited college or university majoring in business or public administration, construction management, or a related field.
- Four years of full-time experience involving monitoring and reviewing affirmative action programs for compliance with state and federal regulations concerned with increased opportunities for the participation of minority, women's, and small business enterprises in government contracts.
- Two years of service with the District as a Compliance Officer or Diversity Officer.
- Civil service status in one of the foregoing classifications.
