**JOB SUMMARY**

The PULSE Program Director is responsible for the direct administration of the evening treatment program, service delivery, and provides direct supervision over this program. This position exercises considerable independent judgment and decision-making. The PULSE Program Director is also responsible for the direct daily care of the youth and supervising of the program staff and supervisors. This position is expected to exert a positive influence over the youth and staff through daily interaction and guidance.

**REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS**

This position will be responsible for overseeing several Supervisors on any given shift in order to ensure that the program’s mission is achieved. This position will also be responsible for providing input on employee reviews and completing performance evaluations for the PULSE Supervisors.

**ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS**
- Directly supervises PULSE management staff and collaborates with the same in evaluating the program and staff.
- Monitors and analyzes the program’s needs and develop and implement strategies to meet those needs.
- Evaluates all referrals to the program, determines appropriateness, and collaborates with referring agency to determine group placement.
- Creates and updates program policies as needed.
- Determines whether appropriate services are being provided and seek corrective action as needed.
- Manages, monitors, and maintains the PULSE Supervisor and PULSE Youth Care Worker schedules, attendance, PeopleSoft requests, shift switch requests, and group assignments.
- Prepares monthly reports on service delivery and programming and submit the same to the Director.
- Prepares weekly treatment progress reports for Juvenile Probation, Child & Youth Agency, parents, and youth.
- Involves the family and residents in the delivery of the treatment programs.
- Attends juvenile court hearings as needed.
- Acts as liaison between the programs and other county departments and community organizations.
- Observes and documents behavior of youth and staff.
- Transports youth on community service projects as needed.
- Prevents physical, sexual, and emotional abuse of youth.
- Meets, greets, and searches youth during the admissions process.
- Physically manages youth to prevent injury, as needed.
- Dispenses medication and first aid to detained youth, as needed.
- Explains and enforces facility policies and procedures with staff.
- Supervises, evaluates, and disciplines employees as needed/directed.
- Attends trainings in Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and other treatment-based interventions, as needed.
- Works weekends, holidays, and flexible shifts, as needed.

**MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS**
- In accordance with PA Code 3800-55h, applicants must be 21 years of age.
- Bachelor’s degree in social sciences, psychology or a related field from an accredited college or university with 2 years experience in an area of direct service to children and/or adolescents or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Master’s or graduate course work from an accredited college or university preferred.
- Supervisory experience preferred.
- Drug/alcohol and mental health treatment experience a plus

**REQUIRED LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS**

**Clean criminal record, FBI Clearance, and child abuse record.**:

**PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT**

Occasional pushing and pulling up to 150 lbs.

Walking 20% of the time

Sitting 80% of the time

This position has been identified as having the potential for exposure to Hepatitis B. Access to training and a voluntary vaccination against Hepatitis B is provided.
