The primary focus for the Controller will be to monitor and enforce financial policies and procedures, assist with leading and developing the accounting and finance team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with management of the accounting department; developing policies, procedures, and controls to ensure the integrity and accuracy of the financial results.
- Ensure timely month-end close and reporting and analysis of results.
- Cash forecasting.
- Assist CFO in overseeing all aspects of accounting, cost and grower accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed assets, plant accounting and accounting for all company investments.
- Ability to travel to company locations, as necessary.
- Partner with IT to ensure ERP system, process, master files, security, and data is managed to provide proper financial reporting and controls.
- This individual will be responsible to ensure that all policies, controls, and process improvement activities are successfully completed to support operational requirements.
- Partner with operations, to ensure accurate and effective inventory control and cost accounting processes, systems, and procedures.
- Monitor cash and funding balances.
- Manage relationships with key financial partners - including, Customers, Vendors and Joint Venture Partners.
- Protect assets by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing internal controls.
- Maintain Asset and equipment inventories, evaluating new equipment and purchase and financing techniques.
- Act as a liaison between finance and other departments to ensure alignment of financial goals with overall business objectives.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation; anticipating future legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; filing financial reports; advising management on needed actions.
**Core Skills and Qualifications**
- At least 5 years in a leadership role in accounting and/or Finance.
- Degree in Accounting, Finance or Business-related field.
- Bilingual a plus
**Physical Demands**
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Strong Excel skills.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
