**Public policy and regulatory affairs**

We are building a Government Affairs and Public Policy (GAPP) team that has the drive, and experience to engage in and shape a nascent and unique public policy environment for enterprise artificial intelligence.

**In this role you will**:

- Report to Cohere’s Global Head of Government Affair & Public Policy.
- Identify, prioritize, and develop public policy positions that outline Cohere’s views on appropriate regulation of artificial intelligence and related issues. These positions will be developed in a cross-functional and multi-disciplinary way - partnering closely with Cohere’s senior leadership, legal, government relations, sales, product and responsible AI teams among others.
- Support the identification of changing business and regulatory trends and provide strategic policy advice to senior leadership to inform our product and business strategy.
- In coordination with the government affairs team, represent Cohere externally on a range of responsible AI issues, and in a range of fora, including with our trade associations, in meetings with government officials and lawmakers, working groups, and initiatives.

**You may be a good fit for this career opportunity, if you have**:

- 7+ years of proven experience working with or in government, public interest groups, trade associations or corporate public policy organizations.
- JD or an undergraduate degree in political science (or equivalent practical experiences).
- Experience in drafting public policy positions, reviewing and redlining legislation. Familiarity with technology policies in regulated sectors (such as banking, healthcare and others) is helpful.
- Some international public policy experience is preferred.
- A strong aptitude to navigate intricate and fluid policy debates across multiple jurisdictions, prioritize issues, and distill key messages for a variety of audiences.
- Experience advising, and collaborating with cross-functional internal & external stakeholders.
- A growth mindset, and a self-starter with the ability to work independently, and get things done.
