HVAC Duct Mechanic

Our Duct Mechanics for our Construction department are an essential part of system installs on our commercial and residential projects; performs layout and install of required materials and equipment for HVAC systems. Our Duct Mechanics also provide on-the-job training to jr. mechanics and apprentices for them to succeed in the HVAC trade.

Duties and Responsibilities

Prepare job site(s) for installing ductwork.
Install and run new duct into various types of buildings, including residential homes, commercial businesses, and multi-story buildings.
Instruct apprentices and jr. mechanics on daily tasks and duties.
Take direction from Foreman and Superintendent on details of project(s).
Perform a variety of tasks involving strenuous manual labor.
Ensure proper safety and incident reporting procedures are followed according to company and state guidelines.
Read and interpret construction drawings for all trades.
Always maintain a clean and safe work area.
Document and maintain timecard through software application.
Account for all tools, equipment, and assets.
Ensure all equipment and material is installed per industry standards and construction drawings.

Qualifications

Education/Certification: High School diploma or equivalent

Required Knowledge: Knowledge of HVAC trade

Experience Required: 4+ years of trade experience.

Skill and Ability: Dependability and punctuality

Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Ability to work in a team environment.

Ability to use significant independent judgment.

Ability to learn and utilize app-based software for construction tasks.

Excellent time management skills

Leadership skills

Basic computer skills preferred

Working conditions

Ability to operate in an open work area with moderate everyday noise.
Ability to work closely with other trades and contractors.
Ability to withstand heat and cold temperatures.

Physical requirements

Occasionally required to stand and stoop, kneel, and crouch. Ability to lift and/or move up to 50lbs.
