Our HVAC Mechanics for our Construction department are an essential part of system installations on our commercial and residential projects; performs layout and installation of required materials and equipment for HVACR systems. This position also requires extensive knowledge of installing VRF systems and pipefitting. Our HVAC Mechanics also provide on-the-job training to apprentices, helpers, and Jr Mechanics for them to succeed in the HVAC trade.

Duties and Responsibilities

Install HVAC units including, air conditioners, heat pumps, ventilation systems, and ductwork according to project specifications and blueprints.
Perform startup procedures to ensure proper functioning and calibration of HVAC equipment.
Troubleshoot and resolve any issues or malfunctions with HVAC systems during installation or startup.
Collaborate with other tradespeople on the jobsite to coordinate installation activities and ensure timely completion of projects.
Document work performed, including equipment installed, tests conducted, and any issues encountered.
Provide guidance and training to apprentices, helpers, and junior HVAC technicians as needed.
Take direction from Foreman and Superintendent on details of project(s).
Perform a variety of tasks involving strenuous manual labor.
Ensure proper safety and incident reporting procedures are followed according to company and state guidelines.
Read and interpret construction drawings for all trades.
Soldering, brazing, wiring and proper use of HVAC tools to complete the task within provided estimate.
Clean up work areas and account for all tools, equipment, and assets.
Document and maintain timecard through software application.

Qualifications

Education/Certification: High School diploma or equivalent, CFC, Universal/EPA certification

Required Knowledge: Knowledge of HVAC trade. VRF/Piping work is a bonus

Experience Required: 4+ years of experience

Skill and Ability: Dependability and punctuality.

Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.

Ability to effectively communicate,

Ability to work in a team environment.

Ability to use significant independent judgment.

Ability to learn and utilize app-based software for construction tasks.

Ability to work closely with other trades and contractors.
Ability to withstand heat and cold temperatures.

Physical requirements

Occasionally required to stand and stoop, kneel, and crouch. Ability to lift and/or move a minimum of 50lbs.
