Review and understand material specification per OEM.
Interpretate Mil Standards and relay proper flow down to supplier.
Understand and flow down proper DFARS.
Identify qualified suppliers.
Interface and coordinate with Program and Quality Management
Research, interview, and negotiate with suppliers to obtain the best prices, delivery dates, and quality of products.
Creates purchase orders for the acquisition of materials that include all required information on the order (i.e., grade, measurements, quantity, due date, and customer flow down requirements).
Routinely follows up, and tracks purchased items and provides an up-to-date status report to management.
Tracks material cost savings and reports information monthly to management.
Performs other related duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIESThis job has no supervisory responsibilities but has indirect leadership responsibilities as it relates to customer satisfaction.QualificationsTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Ability to read and understand engineering drawings and blueprints.
Must have ERP experience.
Must be Microsoft Office software proficient.
Must have excellent and accurate data entry, organizational and communication skills.
Individual must be able to successfully manage prioritizing multiple assignments, with a high level of urgency while maintaining accuracy.
Steel Industry experience required.
Experience with purchasing pertaining to Government contracts.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCERequires a bachelor's degree in business or related field from a credited college, university or technical school; and/or four (4) years related experience and/or training in purchasing, finance or sales of which three (3) years are in the steel fabrication industry; or equivalent combination of education and experience.LANGUAGE SKILLSAbility to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, production associates, clients, customers, and the general public.MATHEMATICAL SKILLSMust possess strong mathematical skills and financial knowledge. Requires basic financial knowledge.REASONING ABILITYMust be able to make sound business decisions and possess strong problem-solving abilities. Requires analytical knowledge; ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret technical publications.
