Responsibilities

  • Oversight of A/P, A/R, billing and payroll functions
  • Maintain accounting transactions and record to the general ledger; responsible for month end account reconciliations and preparing monthly financial statements
  • Prepare month end journal entries and review general ledger details monthly
  • Perform monthly trust account reconciliation
  • Prepare the firm’s annual budget, including revenue forecasts, and coordinate with and assist department heads on completion of their budgets
  • Manage all aspects of financial reporting with cross-departmental collaboration, including profitability analysis (firm level and individual timekeeper level), compensation, and rate determination, as well as creation of other reports requested by firm management
  • Approve and release weekly payments, checks and wires
  • Create, maintain, and update process documentation; create new documentation as needed
  • Oversee third party vendor 1099 reporting
  • Work with CPA to oversee the maintenance of fixed assets and accumulated depreciation records using fixed asset application; ensure fixed asset inventory database is updated
  • Assist CPA with tax-related matters
  • Create best practice procedures for accounting activities and drive process improvements, utilizing technology to improve efficiency
  • Manage, mentor, and develop the Accounting team members
  • Monitor and report on key firm financial metrics and KPIs, and set and achieve departmental OKRs

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting/finance or a related field is required
  • CPA license or MBA is preferred
  • 5+ years of general accounting experience in law firm or professional services firm required
  • 5+ years of management experience with multiple direct reports
  • Knowledge of GAAP and accounting concepts
  • Proficient with project management, document management, and data visualization applications
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Business Central and Microsoft Dynamics or similar system preferred, or proven ability to learn and acclimate to a new accounting software

Compensation

For job requisitions posted to certain locations, Marcum Search is required by law to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation range. This compensation range is specific to certain locations and takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. Base salary: $150-215; exempt; competitive bonuses.
