Position Summary

The intern will work with the National Parks of New York Harbor’s (NPNH) Education Program Manager and Youth Programs Coordinator. Duties will include assisting with youth and volunteer programming planning, scheduling, and general programmatic operations. Duties will also include developing and collection of promotional materials relating to youth and volunteer programs, such as written articles, social media posts, or visual products. Program work and recreational experiences include multiple National Parks of New York Harbor sites, as well as other area NPS sites.

Schedule

August 19, 2024 - August 17, 2025

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Assist NPS leads with scheduling and communications for year-round youth and volunteer programs; Facilitates small groups through basic trainings during programming orientations; Conduct youth focused programs at multiple sites or affiliated areas; Complies visual and written reports on youth and volunteer activities on a programmatic basis; Maintains safe and communicative work environment.

Marginal Duties

Attend community events with NPS leads to recruit volunteers and promote NPNH programming; Respond to basic visitor inquires when out in the field; Developing content for NPNH social media outlets.
